Yulin university, located in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, was jointly established by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education and Yulin Municipal Government. It is a provincial-level undergraduate college that focuses on engineering, with the coordinated development of engineering, management, literature, science, agriculture and law. It is the northernmost institution of higher learning in Shaanxi Province and the only provincial undergraduate institution in Yulin. The college has the right to award master's degrees; It is a first-class application-oriented undergraduate college construction unit in Shaanxi Province, and was selected into the education and training plan of outstanding agricultural and forestry talents.

The school was formerly the Fourth Normal School of Shaanxi Province, which was founded in 1923. 1958 changed its name to Suide Branch of Xi Normal University, 1978 changed its name to Yulin College Branch of Shaanxi Normal University, and moved to Xisha, Yulin in the early 1980s. 1965438 was renamed Yulin Normal University.

By February 2023, the school had three campuses, namely Yuyang, Suide and Kechuang New City, 15 secondary colleges and 52 undergraduate majors.
