Standard pronunciation of Zhuang language

China is a country where many ethnic groups live together. After liberation, the state implemented the policy of ethnic equality and ethnic unity. In order to promote the development of cultural and educational undertakings of ethnic minorities, the state has helped some ethnic minorities improve and create writing, including the Zhuang ethnic group. The central government commissioned experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Central Institute for Nationalities to form a language working team to conduct in-depth investigation and research on the Zhuang language in 52 locations in 47 counties where the Zhuang people live together. After repeated demonstrations, it was finally determined that the northern dialect of the Zhuang language would be the preferred language. For the basic dialect, Wuming County Zhuang language is used as the standard pronunciation, and a "Zhuang script plan" (draft) based on the Latin alphabet is formulated. The main considerations at that time were Wuming's economy, geographical location and the difficulty of speaking. Wuming has a relatively developed economy, convenient transportation, and is close to Nanning. Wuming is located at the intersection of the two major Zhuang dialects. The pronunciation of Wuming Zhuang is relatively simple and easy to learn. On November 29, 1957, the 63rd plenary session of the State Council chaired by Premier Zhou Enlai discussed and approved the "Zhuang Language Plan" and agreed to promote its use in Zhuang areas. From then on, the Zhuang people had their own legal writing. In 1982, with the approval of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, a revised plan was announced and implemented, so that all letters used in the "Zhuang script plan" were Latinized.

The pronunciation of modern standard Zhuang basically follows the phonetic system of Wuming Zhuang, but it is not completely identical to Wuming Zhuang. The vocabulary of standard Zhuang language mainly uses vocabulary and pronunciation that have consistent pronunciation in each dialect area. Therefore, there are actually certain phonetic differences between standard Zhuang and the local Zhuang language in Wuming, and there are also small dialects in Wuming Zhuang language.

As early as the pre-Qin period, the Luo Yue people, the ancestors of the Zhuang people, established their own country, the Luo Yue Ancient Kingdom, which ranged from the Hongshui River Basin in Guangxi in the north, to the southeast of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in the west, and to the southwest of Guangdong Province in the east. , south to Hainan Island and the Red River Basin of Vietnam. The source and center of Luoyue culture is in China, and the main part is also in China. This center and the earliest capital was in Wuming.

The ancient Luoyue Kingdom once created a splendid culture, including rice farming culture, cotton textile culture, shipping culture, dragon boat culture, pictographic square characters, bronze drum culture, smelting and manufacturing culture, Huashan mural culture, Witch culture, view of the Three Realms, sun culture, Dragon Mother culture, jade culture, pillar worship culture, etc. have had a significant and far-reaching impact on Chinese civilization, Southeast Asian civilization and even world civilization.

The birthplace of Longmu culture originally originated from the Daming Mountain area in Guangxi. After reaching this conclusion, relevant experts successively discovered different but similar versions of the Dragon Mother culture in Wuming, Shanglin and other places.

The ancient Luoyue nation first originated in the ancient Luoyue River Basin (i.e. Yongjiang River and Yujiang River Basin) in the Daming Mountain area. In this area, it created the earliest rice farming civilization, medical civilization, textile civilization and Water-based civilization, it went to the ocean here, developed the South China Sea, and opened up the world-famous Maritime Silk Road. Therefore, the ancient Luoyue people called Daming Mountain their ancestral mountain and the ancient Luoyue River their mother river. The third volume of "Wuyuan County Picture Book" compiled in the Qing Dynasty records: "There are many Dragon Mother temples in the county." After preliminary inspection, there are about 20 Dragon Mother temples around Daming Mountain, all of which are dedicated to the Dragon Mother.

The National Philosophy and Social Science Key Project "Ancient Luo Yue Fang National Examination" jointly completed by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Minzu University of China, and the Guangxi Luo Yue Culture Research Association expert group determined that my country's Luo Yue ancestors were from the South China Sea. The earliest developer and the earliest pioneer of the Maritime Silk Road. The birthplace of the Luoyue nation and the starting point of water civilization in my country is the Daming Mountain area in Nanning City, Guangxi. Queen Luo Yue is the founder and important representative of Luo Yue water culture. It is precisely because of Grandmother Wang's contribution in pioneering water culture that every year on the third day of the third lunar month, Zhuang compatriots hold a grand sacrificial ceremony at Luobo Temple, the Luoyue Ancestral Temple at the foot of Daming Mountain. This sacrificial activity later formed the famous Luobo Temple Fair folk custom. And the Zhuang people’s folk customs at March 3rd Song Fair. The Luoyue Ancestral Temple has therefore become a holy place for my country's water culture.
