How to calculate the survival rate of seedlings

Number of surviving seedlings ÷ total number of planted seedlings × 100%= seedling survival rate.

For example: 1000 seedlings survive 90, and its survival rate is 90%.

90÷ 1000× 100%=90%

Methods to improve the survival rate:

A, seedling procurement:

There are two kinds of seedlings on the market now: bare-rooted seedlings and bulbs with soil. When buying bare-rooted seedlings, we should first look at whether the roots of the seedlings are fresh and developed; Secondly, look at plant height, thickness and internode length. If the internodes are too long, they will be seedlings in vain and should not be selected. Then see if the bud is full and strong. It is advisable to choose seedlings with a slightly larger soil ball, and then see whether the root system around the soil ball is developed. Other conditions are the same as bare-rooted seedlings. In short, it is best to choose seedlings with developed roots, strong branches, full buds and no pests and diseases.

Second, the preparation before planting:

Before planting seedlings, it is necessary to clear the land and treat the necessary tools and seedlings, which is beneficial to the survival of seedlings and improve work efficiency.

1. Pruning: Cut off diseased branches, weak branches, over-dense branches and ineffective tillers of seedlings to reduce water transpiration of seedlings and maintain water balance in seedlings. Wax the cutting part or wrap it with a film to prevent water evaporation and bacterial invasion.

2. Root treatment: Cutting off the weak roots of the newly planted seedlings is beneficial to the regeneration of new roots after the seedlings are planted. For some seedlings that are not conducive to survival, they can be soaked in a solution made of rooting powder to promote the rooting of seedlings and improve the survival rate.

Three, seedling planting:

Seedling planting technology is the key to the survival of newly planted seedlings.

1, digging a pit: determine the plant spacing and set out to dig a pit. The size of the hole depends on the volume of the root system of the seedling. Generally speaking, the size of the hole should be 2 to 3 times the volume of the root system of the seedling. When digging a pit, the topsoil and subsoil (raw soil layer) are placed separately.

2. Planting: First, put some hot fertilizers such as cow dung and pig manure. At the bottom of the hole, then mix them with soil evenly, and then sprinkle a layer of top soil with a thickness of 5 to 8 cm to isolate the feces from the roots of the seedlings. Put the seedlings in the center of the hole so that the roots are naturally and reasonably distributed. In the case of seedlings with soil balls, first untie the straw rope and put it in the hole to break the soil ball, so as to avoid the isolation between the soil ball and the hole soil, but the soil ball should not be too broken. Then cultivate the soil, first put the surface soil, and then put down the layer soil (raw soil layer). Straighten the seedlings when raising the soil. After cultivating the soil, gently lift the seedlings to 1 to 2 cm, so that the roots naturally extend and closely combine with the soil.

3. Enclosure: The height of the enclosure should be about 20 cm, and the surrounding soil should be photographed to prevent water leakage.

4. Watering: The farmer said, "Live in water and grow in fat." Therefore, it should be fully and thoroughly watered. River water, groundwater and tap water can be used, and polluted water sources should not be used.

5. Cover with plastic film: For seedlings that are not suitable for survival, plastic film can be covered around their trunks to reduce the evaporation of groundwater, prevent soil hardening, raise ground temperature and promote seedlings to take root and sprout.

Fourth, post-planting management:

It is necessary to check and replenish seedlings in time after planting.

1. Replenish water: If plants are found to be under-watered or under-watered during planting, water should be replenished in time, and the soil should be loosened and cultivated at the right time, and the height of the cultivated soil should cover the root neck at the lower part of the trunk.

2, anti-theft: special care, you can also tie some thorny branches around the tree, such as pepper branches, acacia branches and so on.

3. Replanting: Replanting in time if there are any missing seedlings, so as to quickly become a forest for greening.
