In the blink of an eye, it has been three months since I came to Dadi Village, Mulaoyuan Township, Shidian County as a member of the Provincial Party Committee General Office’s Village Poverty Alleviation Team. When I first arrived here, I really felt how difficult life in the village was, which just confirmed the old saying circulated in the village: "The mountains are high and there are many rocks, so you have to climb uphill when you go out. The ground is not even three feet flat, and there are more cliffs than cultivated land." The natural conditions here are harsh, geological disasters occur frequently, and the infrastructure is backward. There are only narrow county roads and rural roads from the county seat to the village, and it takes more than an hour to drive on the 27-kilometer mountain road. The computers and printers in the village office are old and slow, and often cannot be turned on, making work extremely inconvenient.

At the beginning of my stay in the village, I and Zhang Xing, the leader of the village poverty alleviation team, worked out the seven major projects planned for Mulaoyuan Township in Shidian County in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Party Committee General Office. Plan the work in the village and implement it item by item. Among the many tasks, the one that impressed me the most was the Alinzhai relocation project for poverty alleviation. Alinzhai is a hidden danger point for natural disasters identified by the County Land and Resources Bureau. Natural disasters such as landslides occur frequently, so relocation is urgent. However, in actual work, the difficulties were far greater than I imagined. Although the villagers in Alinzhai also wanted to change the status quo, they were quite resistant when they heard that they would have to bear part of the cost of relocation.

Faced with difficulties, the work team and village cadres did not back down. They used their breaks to hold meetings to study countermeasures, and actively went to farmers' homes to patiently explain the benefits of relocation. After more than a month of hard work, many farmers have expressed their willingness to relocate. During those days, I had to walk through the rugged mountain roads of Alinzhai every day. On rainy days, I was covered in mud and water. At night, I went to a farmer's house and sat by the fire pit. The smoke made me unable to open my eyes. However, every time I dragged on late at night, Returning to the village office with a tired body, I no longer feel tired after thinking about what I have done for the people today.

Shangmaoma Village Group is 21 kilometers away from the town government. It is a traditional village where the Hani people live together. It is a key demonstration village for the construction of beautiful homes in Daxing Town in 2015. The entrance to the village is a mural more than 20 meters long with unique ethnic characteristics. According to the village party secretary, the murals tell the story of the beautiful life of the Hani ancestors who migrated here. I suddenly felt that our rural areas can still be so beautiful.

When I entered the village, I felt that the construction of the beautiful village was out of sync with the raising of villagers’ awareness. Construction waste, food wrappers, and domestic waste filled the open spaces and ditches on both sides of the road, and livestock excrement could be seen everywhere. Seeing this situation, the work team leader Wen Zhangping called the village team leader and asked him to organize villagers to clean the house. After waiting for a long time, no villagers came. We borrowed cleaning tools from the villagers and cleaned them ourselves. At this time, some villagers were squatting in the corner and looking at us. After a while, under the repeated urging of the village team leader, some villagers gradually joined the cleaning team. An elder muttered something while cleaning with us, probably to thank us. Slowly, more and more people joined in cleaning, and everyone worked together to clean the streets cleaner.

Today is the fifth time we have held a mass meeting in the Naka Group of Manlu Village Committee. The previous four mass meetings were also held in the evening. After being stationed in the village, I realized that the best time to hold mass meetings is in the evening, because there are many people participating and it does not affect the production and life of the villagers.

At 19:00, our village poverty alleviation team members had an early dinner and arrived at Director Zhaer’s house on time to prepare for the Naka Group villagers’ democratic appraisal meeting of poor households to be lifted out of poverty.

At around 20:00, villagers came to the village director’s house one after another. 28 households who were initially selected for poverty alleviation, village group cadres, village group party members, mass representatives, and work team members attended the meeting. The director of the village committee introduced the poverty alleviation work policies to everyone, explained the reasons for the withdrawal of poor households, and publicized various measures of the industrial assistance policy for poverty alleviation.

The team members read out to the people attending the meeting the calculation of the per capita disposable income of rural residents of these 28 households in 2015, as well as the identification and verification of the poverty alleviation standards combined with "eight haves, four have none, one has high and one benefits", And answered the questions one by one that the people did not know. Subsequently, all participating villagers conducted a democratic review and voted by a show of hands.
