Tmall Elf launches an intelligent garbage classification system that can automatically adapt to the requirements of different cities

Today, Alibaba Artificial Intelligence Laboratory announced an intelligent garbage classification system internally codenamed Raccoon. It is an intelligent system that can automatically identify tens of thousands of common garbage and classify garbage according to different urban garbage classification standards. .

Currently, the intelligent garbage classification system has been launched on Tmall Elf and has been applied in Shanghai, Hangzhou and other cities with mandatory garbage classification. The Raccoon system also supports a variety of application scenarios such as image recognition and text recognition. Users can also scan and identify garbage through the mobile Taobao Polaroid Scan.

Nie Zaiqing, chief scientist of Alibaba Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, said: After several months of internal development testing and small-scale public testing, the Raccoon system has stored more than 10,000 item data and can fully identify daily garbage. Based on the artificial intelligence training model, it can also actively upgrade the garbage database and automatically adapt to the classification requirements of different cities.

After the Raccoon system is officially launched, tips will be added for special daily necessities such as digital products, cosmetics, and medicines to avoid accidental throwing. For example, if a user asks what kind of garbage lipstick is, the system will feedback that expired lipsticks refer to the garbage classification standards as harmful garbage, and unexpired lipsticks are not garbage.

It is reported that the Tmall Elf Raccoon team is cooperating with domestic trash can head manufacturers. After ordinary trash cans are implanted with Raccoon's IoT voice technology, citizens can walk up to the trash can and just say what they want to throw away. Whatever the item, the corresponding trash can lid will automatically open. This product is expected to be launched soon.
