During the seven years from its establishment in 25 to 212, Beijing Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Center rescued more than 26 species and 24,796 wild animals. Among them, there are 18 species and 174 animals under national first-class protection and 5 species and 443 animals under national second-class protection.

Beijing Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Center is located in a lush forest farm beside the Chaobai River, covering an area of 16 hectares. It has more than 1 cages for birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, and is equipped with advanced wildlife rescue, breeding and scientific research equipment. In the cage, macaques, foxes, wolves, vultures, goshawks, swans and other wild animals are strong and lively.

Shi Yang, chief of the rescue department of the center, said that there are two main sources of wild animals here: one is the field rescue after the citizens reported it, and the other is the illegally traded wild animals confiscated by law enforcement officers. For the wild animals received, those that can be released into nature must be released. The center has released a total of 15,38 wild animals. "However, some animals are disabled, and some animals come from abroad and cannot adapt to the natural environment in China. We can only leave them in the center and provide a suitable environment for them to thrive here."

The diverse natural environment in Beijing has given birth to a rich variety of wild animals. According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 6 species of vertebrates, more than 41 species of birds, nearly 3 species of reptiles and more than 1 species of amphibians in Beijing, among which there are many endangered species such as impala, golden eagle, elk and mandarin duck. Protecting wild animals is of great significance for improving Beijing's ecological environment.

"The protection of wild animals requires the active participation of the whole society, and the strength of rescue and breeding centers alone is very limited." Shi Yang said that the establishment of this center is not only to help wild animals, but also to take this opportunity to appeal to the whole society to pay attention to wildlife protection.

In order to achieve this goal, the Rescue and Breeding Center has attached great importance to publicity and education since its establishment, such as publicizing scientific wildlife rescue concepts and methods to the public through media such as radio and television, erecting animal protection billboards in animal habitats, holding "Bird Love Week" every year, and receiving free visits from primary and secondary school students.
