Effectively inhibit the activity of all microorganisms, and prevent the nutrients contained in Pennisetum from being decomposed or consumed by microorganisms. Relatively speaking, the nutrients in Pennisetum can be preserved by silage treatment.

2. Characteristics of Pennisetum silage:

The nutritional components of Pennisetum are basically maintained, the palatability of livestock and poultry is improved, and it is easier to absorb and digest. Can be preserved for a long time, can adjust the supply of green feed in winter and spring, and meet the needs of balanced nutrition supply. It can be stored in kiln, ditch or plastic bag.

3. Silage method:

Firstly, the leaves or stems of Pennisetum are cut into 2-4 cm, which is convenient for livestock and poultry to be compacted during feeding and filling, and the feed utilization rate is improved. Between filling, I held the chopped Pennisetum in my hand and felt some water in my fingers, but it didn't flow down. If there is more water, it must be properly dried before filling.

In the production process, Pennisetum is filled quickly and compacted during loading to reduce the contact time with air. Compaction is the key to ensure quality. When filling, special attention should be paid to the compaction of the edges and corners of the storage kiln. After the kiln is filled, the grass should be covered with a layer of broken grass, and then covered with a layer of fine soil or plastic cloth. Be sure to step on it after covering the soil to prevent air leakage. In addition, drainage ditches should be dug around the storage kiln to facilitate drainage. After 3-5 days of soil sealing, the ensilaged Pennisetum will sink, and cracks or pits will appear in the upper covering soil, so it should be covered with new soil in time for compaction. It takes about 30-45 days to open the kiln and feed.

4. Utilization of silage Pennisetum;

Pennisetum can be used after 1 month. But once the kiln is opened, it must be taken every day to prevent freezing and rain. When you take it, you should open the kiln in sections and take it in sections. Every paragraph should be shot from top to bottom, not completely open; It is forbidden to dig holes for grass, minimize contact with air, and prevent the role of mold. Eat as much as you want, and cover it with plastic sheets or straw mats in time after eating. Note: Don't use moldy Pennisetum, pile it up and use it as fertilizer after fermentation.
