Formerly the Eighth Aviation School of the Air Force, the College was established in Shenyang 195 1 in May 2005. In May, it was renamed Air Force No.1 Aviation Maintenance School 1967. 1970 1 moved to Xinyang city, Henan province, and was renamed as the first aviation technical institute of the air force 1986 in June, and the first aviation institute of the air force 1992 in August.

The college covers an area of 530,000 square meters. There are computer teaching management center, scientific research center, audio-visual education center, air force equipment technology simulation training software development and research center, air force academy computer-aided teaching software development center, surface engineering center, aircraft war injury emergency repair experimental center and library with 300,000 books, as well as supporting special training venues such as aircraft test site, aircraft school shooting range, teaching airport, light weapons shooting range, military sports training ground and swimming pool. There are nearly 100 professors and senior experimenters in the college, and nearly 40,000 aviation professional and technical officers have been trained for the Air Force, some of whom have become senior generals of our army.
