What kinds of rubbish are there? What is the difference?

Garbage is divided into four categories, namely, harmful waste, recyclable garbage, dry garbage and wet garbage.

Taking Shanghai as an example, according to Article 4 of the Regulations of Shanghai Municipality on the Administration of Domestic Waste, domestic waste in this city is classified according to the following standards:

(1) Recyclable materials include waste paper, waste plastics, waste glass products, waste metals, waste fabrics and other domestic wastes suitable for recycling;

(2) Hazardous wastes refer to domestic wastes that directly or potentially endanger human health or the natural environment, such as waste batteries, waste lamps, waste medicines, waste paints and their containers;

(3) Wet garbage is perishable garbage, which refers to the domestic garbage of perishable substances such as kitchen garbage, leftovers, expired food, melon skin and stone, green flowers and plants, and Chinese medicine residue;

(4) Dry garbage refers to other garbage, which refers to other domestic garbage except recyclables, harmful waste and wet garbage.

The specific classification standards of domestic waste can be adjusted according to the level of economic and social development, the characteristics of domestic waste and the needs of disposal and utilization.

"Regulations of Shanghai Municipality on the Management of Domestic Waste" Article 26 The person in charge of management shall set up containers for the classified collection of domestic waste in accordance with the following provisions:

(a) Party and government organs, enterprises and institutions, social organizations and other units of the office or production and business premises should be set up recyclable, harmful waste, wet garbage and dry garbage collection containers.

(2) Residential areas and rural residential areas shall set up four types of collection containers for recyclable materials, harmful waste, wet garbage and dry garbage at the collection, transportation and delivery points of domestic garbage; If collection containers are set in other public areas, two kinds of collection containers, wet garbage and dry garbage, should be set in groups.

(three) public places should be equipped with recyclable and dry garbage collection containers; However, in public places with a large amount of wet garbage, wet garbage collection containers should be added.

The municipal greening and city appearance department shall formulate the specifications for the setting of classified collection containers and announce them to the public. The color and graphic identification of the collection container should be unified, standardized, clear and eye-catching and easy to identify.

Encourage the person in charge of management to refine the setting of collection containers according to the types of recyclables and hazardous wastes and the needs of disposal and utilization.
