Background of the formulation of the offside rule
The offside rule was formally stipulated in the 1874 Football Rules. However, the offside rules at that time were very different from the offside rules now. At that time, it was stipulated that when an offensive player reaches the frontcourt and there are only two defensive players in front (including the goalkeeper), then the offensive player is considered offside. In the early 1870s, football began to become popular in Western countries. At that time, offense was generally emphasized and little attention was paid to defense. This can be clearly seen from the game formations (1217, 1226) commonly used by some countries at that time. There were as many as six or seven strikers in front. When the attacker reaches the frontcourt, it is as unstoppable as a flood that breaks a bank. Once the defender seizes the ball, it is often easy for him to successfully attack. In this way, because there are more people attacking and fewer people defending, the power of offense and defense is extremely unbalanced, which seriously affects the development and improvement of skills and tactics. In addition, due to the lack of numerically equal confrontation between the offensive and defensive sides, the game was not so intense and exciting. For this reason, some people use their brains on tactical formations, while others find ways to put appropriate restrictions on the attacking side in terms of rules. The offside rule came into being in this context.

Two players break through all the opponent's defenses (the goalkeeper is not considered ), in an offside position, if the player leading the ball passes the ball to a parallel player or a player behind the ball, it will not be ruled offside. Special situation c4. A player is sentenced to be offside, and the referee should award an indirect free kick to the opponent's player at the offside location. If the player is offside in the opponent's goal area, the free kick can be taken anywhere in the goal area where the player was offside. Some people may not understand. To put it simply, the moment the offensive player passes the ball, the receiving player is in the opponent's half and closer to the opponent's goal line than the opponent's second-to-last defensive player.
