two
At the beginning of this new century, I would like to dedicate the Green Earth Declaration (Shanghai Edition) to all friends and comrades who are enthusiastic about or concerned about the green movement and are about to devote themselves to this great cause. In order to look forward to your impressions and suggestions. I hope this article can do my bit to bridge these differences and accumulate * * * understanding of the concept of green earth. At the same time, it also represents the intellectuals in China and Shanghai who have always cared about the history and development of nature and human beings and made some achievements for the world green movement. I also hope that this series of essays can truly become the Green Earth-Shanghai Declaration, which will drive a new upsurge in the theoretical construction of the green movement in Shanghai, China and the Chinese-speaking world. It can provide a pragmatic theoretical basis for more latecomers, and hope that in the future, we can further understand and cooperate with each other and restore the faded green on our planet.
three
This series is mainly divided into four chapters, thinking about the concept and future of the green movement with you from three aspects.
1. Shanghai Declaration on Green Earth: This is an induction and summary of green ideas, which is not only a breakthrough in finding new theories, but also a review of the green movement for more than half a century, and more importantly, its popularization. Only when the green consciousness is truly rooted in people's hearts and becomes human knowledge can the green movement really achieve results.
2. Declaration of Green Economics: This is a denial and criticism of the old economic ideas and values, and a reflection on human civilization based on the green ideological trend. Perhaps due to our historical limitations, quite a few problems and some aspects still cannot be involved and clarified, but we hope that it may really become a scalpel for us to analyze human civilization one day. Maybe we can't get to the root of the problem at present, but we believe it should have enough positive significance to further promote the growth of new economics.
3. Green Earth Action Declaration: This is a theoretical discussion on the development history and social reality of the green movement. Due to the historical limitations of the Declaration of Action, it is not included in the Shanghai Declaration, but discussed separately, which is more convenient for everyone to understand and discuss.
4. Controversy of green ideas: This is not to advocate a hundred schools of thought contending about green issues, but to analyze and describe some controversial issues, so as to explore the right and wrong of them for your reference and rebuttal. I hope to grasp the direction of green ideological trend as correctly as possible.
Finally, we look forward to getting more readers' responses and making our own contribution to restoring the green of our planet. (End)

order
This chapter is mainly a simple review and summary of the green trend of thought, which is an induction of green consciousness, but the most important thing is to promote green consciousness as a life concept and a social ideology all over the world. In other words, green ideology is a kind of culture that can be understood and accepted by all mankind, not a simple lifestyle and code of conduct, not to mention a religious precept. It should be the product of human scientific understanding and self-restraint, and all the codes of conduct arising from it are based on historical development stages and science, and will and should make continuous progress with the development of history and scientific and technological forces.
This chapter will discuss the basic principles of green culture as the basis of green ideology. This chapter is divided into five sections: (1) Introduction to Green Movement (three levels); (2) Introduction of green activities; (3) Understanding of green culture; (4) An overview of the goals of green movement. Among them, the understanding of green culture is the most fundamental exposition and the core of green culture. The goal of the green movement is to decompose and understand it on a realistic level. Of course, specific behavioral goals and norms will be discussed in Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.
Section 1 Overview of the Green Movement
In the last century, the green movement has made great progress in different degrees in the world, but there are various differences on the basis of the purpose and ideological theory of the green movement, from vegetarianism to dust prevention and sand control, which dazzles the world, but still does not understand what the real green thought is. Through comprehensive thinking of various green movements, we can think that the green movement is not only a code of conduct, but also a social ideology with scientific basis, which can become an all-round life concept, that is, green culture.
According to the degree of recognition and acceptance, the green movement can be divided into three levels of acceptance.
First, the degree of public acceptance, that is, green consciousness from the perspective of personal health. This is the most acceptable aspect of the green movement for the public, and it is also the most personal aspect, which is the demand of individuals for the green movement from their own interests. In areas with underdeveloped economy and serious environmental pollution, the demand for this level of green movement is more urgent.
2. Overall acceptance level, that is, green awareness that can be recognized from the perspective of ecological security. This is an aspect accepted by the collective after the green movement has a certain foundation. It belongs to the level of local environment, and people realize that the ecological environment is an agreed whole and is the demand of the green movement. In economically developed areas, after going through the first stage and achieving practical results, people with higher green consciousness began to demand this level of green movement.
3. The level of individual consciousness refers to the green consciousness that individuals get rid of the shackles of their own interests, proceed from the height of values, and take the protection of original ecology as the highest level of understanding. This is the situation that the demand of the green movement has been integrated into its personality and self-worth, that is, the highest self-realization demand of human beings is synchronized with the demand of the green movement, and the green movement is completely accepted by individuals. This is generally a person who has a deep understanding of green culture. He is a real person bred by green culture, and will probably become the most determined actor in the green movement.
Among the three acceptance levels of the green movement, the first two levels can be collectively called green activities, while the third level is the real green culture. But in fact, green culture and green activities are closely combined and cannot be simply separated. Without the foundation of green activities, green culture will not be realized. So in the following chapters, although we discuss it separately, we must not treat it separately. Green culture can include the whole green movement in a broad sense, but we only refer to the highest level of the green movement here.
In addition, it needs to be pointed out and emphasized that the green movement also emphasizes human rights, which belongs to a humanitarian vein. Anyone who ignores and tramples on human rights under the banner of the green movement, harms personal health by religion or other means, or is misled by some wrong ideas and shows extreme behavior does not belong to the category of the green movement. For example, extreme vegetarians for religious reasons and disgruntled green terrorists are all distortions and misunderstandings of green culture. None of them belong to the object we are talking about.
The second section discusses green activities
Because green activities are the first two levels of the green movement, the following pages will briefly discuss their respective practical problems, social goals and possible improvement methods.
1. Personal level: Because it is a green consciousness based on personal health needs, it is generally aimed at some small realistic environmental problems. Mainly to control all kinds of environmental pollution and harmful substances. Its goal is to create a harmless living environment and production environment, which is the hottest topic at this stage. Its resistance comes from two social levels: a, the obstruction of capital interest groups; Lack of scientific research on technical improvement. Therefore, in view of this reality, we can adopt the following ways: a) promoting scientific and technological development and technology popularization; B improve the detection level and prediction ability, establish a perfect planning system, and avoid the emergence of new pollution projects; C. comprehensive reform at the economic level to get rid of the adverse impact of capital forces on the environment.
However, because this level is often regional, it often leads to beggar-thy-neighbor phenomenon, that is, the pollution source has not been really treated and transformed, but has been transferred by capital groups, and the pollution has been passed on to underdeveloped areas. Therefore, we must pay close attention to this possibility and actively care about the environmental problems in underdeveloped areas.
2. Local environmental level: Because environmental problems can be viewed from the height of ecological security, it is mainly aimed at practical problems in large-scale regional environment such as soil erosion prevention, watershed management and sandstorm prevention. Its social goal is to create and restore climatic conditions suitable for human survival. These are also some of the most important environmental projects in international cooperation today. However, in some aspects, the development of human science and technology is far from giving a correct explanation and reaching a unified opinion, so this fact has also caused differences and misunderstandings between international cooperation to a certain extent, affecting mutual trust and coordination.
Therefore, the most important thing is to organize cooperation, promote scientific research progress, and lay the foundation for eliminating regional differences and establishing * * * knowledge.
Having achieved this step, it can be said that this is the ultimate performance of green activities. It is the best degree of people-oriented behavior. After that, we have to look forward to the field of green culture.
Section III Understanding of Green Culture
Although green culture is called the conscious level of green movement, it can't be produced naturally after all, because it is not human instinct, but must be cultivated through education and edification. Therefore, only by carefully understanding the connotation of green culture and deepening the perception of green culture can we promote the development of green movement better and more effectively.
The understanding of green culture can be divided into three aspects.
1 What is green culture (concept)
The essence of green culture is equal ecological values. In other words, we recognize that other species in the ecosystem have the same right to exist as human beings, and ecosystems without human position have the same right to exist as pre-human ecosystems with human participation and post-human ecosystems dominated by human beings.
What needs to be explained is mainly the pre-human ecosystem. This mainly refers to the historical period before human beings gained great energy to transform nature, and also refers to the primitive tribal ecology in tropical jungle areas with population density less than 5 people per square kilometer under current historical conditions. In temperate and cold regions, primitive tribes with population density less than 3 people per square kilometer or even less, their lifestyle is simple gathering agriculture. In this model, human beings only exist in this ecosystem as an ordinary species. Overpopulation will lead to the destruction of ecological balance.
Post-human ecosystem, also known as human ideal ecosystem, is a new ecosystem artificially constructed without adverse factors to human beings, and it is the goal that human society can develop for a long time.
The missing link is that today's unbalanced human society has failed to establish an ecosystem.
For the ecological balance system without human position, that is, the modern original ecology that can exist alone without human influence, we call it original ecology for short. The original ecology mentioned later refers to this concept. What needs special explanation is that this original ecology is related to modern climatic and geographical conditions. In the dinosaur era, they had their own original ecology, and this ancient original ecology was related to the geographical conditions at that time. Therefore, historically, the original ecology is not eternal, but changes with the change of geographical conditions, but it develops spontaneously, slowly and steadily, and is not affected by human activities. We must have a full understanding of this in order to correctly understand the original ecology.
The definition of ecology we emphasize is the abbreviation of ecosystem and ecological community. Ecosystem, especially the ecosystem model that can ensure the stable circulation of ecological balance. In other words, it can be considered as a closed ecological model that can maintain self-sufficiency without the support of external energy and the release of matter and energy. However, a relatively stable ecological model needs to accept products outside the system and discharge its own by-products outside the system, which is called ecological community.
What needs to be clarified in particular is the difference between green culture and teleology and the traditional theory of harmony between man and nature. Objective evolution theory, which claims that human beings are the ultimate or the spirit of all things, takes human beings as the goal of evolution, and is a vulgar religious thought of humanism. They regard everything as a property that human beings can enslave and dispose of at will, not as an equal subject with human beings, but as a part of the same ecosystem. When human beings introduced this idea into human society itself, there appeared private ownership in which people enslaved people. However, the traditional theory of harmony between man and nature only adapts to the simplified fantasy of pre-human ecosystem. It's just a simple passive avoidance problem, which gives up on human destiny and can't solve the realistic contradiction.
Green culture is different. We regard everything as a part of the ecosystem where we live together on an equal footing, and the relationship between them is mutually beneficial. So we can build our own happy life, protect ourselves and protect the environment and ecology without destroying the ecology. In the face of many problems in reality, we should respond with active scientific exploration, so as to truly avoid the complete opposition between man and nature.
Therefore, green culture emphasizes that we are only a small part of the universe if we correctly understand people's position in nature.
2 the purpose of green culture
The purpose of green culture is to protect, restore and rebuild the original ecology of nature.
Of course, the protection of the original ecology is the most important, supplemented by restoration and reconstruction.
The definitions of ecosystem and ecological community have been mentioned earlier. Applied to our earth, in fact, a closed ideal ecosystem does not exist. The earth closest to the ecosystem must also rely on sunlight to provide energy support. Moreover, the earth also produced a large number of products-oil and coal in historical period, thus storing solar energy. Because solar energy always exists, when we ignore solar energy and its products, the earth can be regarded as an ideal ecosystem. And all parts of the earth can be regarded as ecological communities because of their mutual influence.
However, due to geographical isolation, some areas can also be regarded as a small ecosystem to some extent. For example, Australia before human landing.
Before human activities, the biggest factors affecting the ecosystem were the ecological changes caused by animal migration, river diversion and volcanic eruption. Because the evolution process of animals and plants is relatively slow, it is not the main factor affecting the ecosystem. For example, Antarctica is greatly influenced by migratory animals, so it is not an independent ecosystem. But an ecosystem composed of ecological communities.
The most common criterion for evaluating an ecosystem or ecological community is whether the inflow material of the ecosystem is equal to the outflow material. That is, whether it has caused damage to the overall ecosystem. If inflow material = outflow material, it can be considered as an independent ecosystem, although it will actually be affected by other ecosystems. Effluent = harmless substance, indicating the purification ability of ecological community.
Protecting the original ecology means not discharging harmful substances to the original ecological community and ensuring that it can exist naturally as an independent ecosystem. To restore and rebuild the original ecology, it may be necessary to build an ecological community with purification ability first, and then rebuild the ecology after controlling pollutants. At this time, the original ecology may have been affected.
However, in reality, due to serious environmental pollution, it is very urgent to purify the environment. Therefore, the action goal of green culture also focuses on:
Build a harmless post-human ecosystem.
However, this action goal is only a realistic phased task. Fundamentally speaking, the most important value is to realize the purpose of green culture: to protect the original ecology of nature and restore and rebuild the original ecology.
