Wuhan Ordnance NCO School is the only NCO school in the whole army that trains technical personnel of ordnance equipment support, and it is a key NCO school under the "2 1 10 Project", which undertakes the dual responsibilities of training high-quality equipment support personnel and providing equipment support technical services for the army. The school has two teaching and living areas, covering an area of 1507 mu.

The school is located in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, and the practice training ground is located in Jinkou Town, Jiangxia District, Wuhan. In recent years, guided by Deng Xiaoping Theory and Theory of Three Represents, the school has actively adapted to the new requirements of mechanization and information construction for the training of ordnance maintenance and support personnel.

The training target mode of ordnance officers is clearly defined as "strong political and ideological quality, strong equipment maintenance ability, strong application ability, strong organizational training and management ability", which has continuously deepened teaching reform and actively promoted teaching modernization, effectively promoted the improvement of teaching quality and trained a large number of ordnance officers for the army.

Up to now, the school has sent more than 9,000 ordnance students, 4,700 technical soldiers and 1.500 ordnance cadres for rotation training and short-term training, and trained 65 international students for Zambia and other countries. A number of advanced models, such as Zhou, Wu Rongchun, have emerged among the graduates.

In 2003, the school was identified by the General Staff as one of the eleven pilot colleges for the modernization teaching project of the whole army, and undertook 86 research and project construction tasks.
