Moving from the Red Road

——Notes from our newspaper’s “Re-walking the Yan’an Road” series of interview activities

“Returning to Yan’an in my dreams several times, my hands "Hold the Pagoda Mountain." This is a verse we are all familiar with. In early April, when the Shaanxi branch of the "China Art News" Yan'an Road interview team arrived in Yan'an and Pagoda Mountain really appeared in front of us, we couldn't help but think of this poem, and our dream finally came true. The Shanxi team in the Taihang Mountains, the Hebei team in Xibaipo, and the Guizhou team in Zunyi also feel the Yan'an spirit everywhere. For half a month, we carried out in-depth interviews with excitement in the holy land of Yan'an, Taihang Taihang, Xibaipo, and Zunyi, digging out precious memories since the 60th anniversary of the publication of the "Speech" and collecting them under the spiritual guidance of the "Speech" The flower of art bred in the land of China explores the touching stories about art, great men, and revolution that have been circulated among the people. From April 5 to early June, we launched a series of reports on "Re-walking the Yan'an Road", including nearly 40 reports, including newsletters, news, pictures, etc., and 5 special editions. After these reports were published, my colleagues in the interview team felt very comforted because we had gone deep into life, recorded history, and witnessed the changes in Marxist literature and art in China that kept pace with the times. But we also regret that due to space limitations, many vivid stories during the interview could not be included in the report. Although two months have passed, these details are constantly replaying in our minds. Today, we are willing to tell you these details that are deeply imprinted in our minds, so that we can share our feelings.

Mao Zedong leaned on this small kang table and wrote the eternal masterpiece "Spring Snow in Qinyuan"

We are moved by the spirit of hard work of our predecessors.

"The scenery of the North Country/thousands of miles of ice/thousands of miles of snow..." We have recited Mao Zedong's majestic poem countless times. But to our surprise, Mao Zedong wrote this poem while lying on the small Kang table in the farmhouse. When we were introduced to this small kang table in Wayaobao, and when we finally encountered this small kang table in the "Red Army's Eastern Expedition" section of the second exhibition hall of the Yan'an Revolution Memorial Hall, we remembered it forever. The young commentator said that on February 5, 1936, Mao Zedong and Peng Dehuai led the Eastern Expedition troops to Yuanjiagou, Qingjian County, and lived in the home of farmer Bai Yucai. In order to facilitate Mao Zedong's work at night, the landlord took the initiative to move this small kang table. On February 6, auspicious snow fell in northern Shaanxi, and the mountains and ridges of Yuanjiagou were shrouded in white snow. Mao Zedong was so moved by the scene that he wrote the famous poem "Spring in Qinyuan·Snow" while lying on this small kang table on February 7. After Mao Zedong left Yuanjiagou, the landlord carefully kept this small kang table and passed it on to future generations as a family heirloom. In June 1972, the Yan'an Revolution Memorial Hall collected this small kang table and began to display it as an important exhibit. This little-known history told affectionately by the commentator made us remember the small kang table forever, gave us a deeper understanding of the ideological connotation of "Qinyuanchun·Snow", and also allowed us to work hard and be optimistic for Mao Zedong. His mental state was full of admiration.

Such optimism and pride are also reflected in Chen Yi's poems. When interviewing artists from the Yan'an Federation of Literary and Art Circles, everyone inadvertently mentioned Chen Yi's poem praising Qingliang Mountain. They said that Qingliang Mountain, located in the northeast of Yan'an City, was not only a gathering place of scenic spots and historic sites, but also a gathering place for news and publishing organizations during the Yan'an period. Xinhua News Agency, Liberation Daily, Central Printing Plant, and Xinhua Radio Station are all located here. The voice of the Party Central Committee quickly spread throughout the anti-Japanese base areas through news agencies, newspapers, and radio stations, and spread to the world through the English Broadcasting Department established under the guidance of British friend Michael Lin. Therefore, Qingliang Mountain has become a bridge between Yan'an and the outside world. Chen Yi felt this and wrote a poem: One hundred years of weakness in China lamented, and eight years of fighting in Yan'an. Let me ask who is in charge in Kyushu. All eyes are on Qingliang Mountain.

Later, during discussions with local artists, many people mentioned this poem. The spirit of the revolutionary predecessors who were not afraid of hardships and pursued persistently is reflected in the poem.

At the Taihang Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army in Wuxiang, Shanxi, we also felt the optimistic mental state and heroic poetry of the revolutionaries in difficult circumstances. In the memorial hall, we saw a poem written by Zhu De before he left the Taihang front where he had fought for three years and returned to Yan'an: The peaks stand on the wall at the head of Taihang, and the natural dangers of the Yellow River are as far as the eye can see. The flames of war on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are as red as fire. This trip should comfort the same hatred. After a bloody battle and numerous difficulties and dangers, Zhu De was still high-spirited and full of confidence in the victory of the revolutionary cause.

Of course, it is not just the revolutionaries in the smoke of gunfire who have such feelings. For literary and art workers, they also faced the test of difficult environment and delivered excellent answers. On the hillside behind the former site of Yan'an Lu Xun Art Institute, there is a low, narrow bungalow. After listening to the introduction by comrades from the Yan'an City Federation of Literary and Art Circles, we learned that this inconspicuous little bungalow was the place where Xian Xinghai composed the music for "Yellow River Cantata". Under a low roof and in conditions that were so simple that they were almost nothing, Xian Xinghai used his aura, talent and love to write the breathtaking "Yellow River Cantata".

“I just want to sing more songs for the people of Yan’an”

We were moved by the artist’s deep affection for Yan’an and the people.

In Shaanxi, we learned about the touching stories of each artist and Yan'an through interviews with artists and local literary and art circles who came to visit and express condolences.

When interviewing the famous painter Zhang Ding in Beijing, we specially brought him jujube and millet brought back from Yan'an. This old man who participated in the Yan'an Literature and Art Forum was very happy, as if life in Yan'an was right before his eyes. .

For film artist Yu Lan, Yan'an is not an unattainable dream, but a loving and amiable mother. "Yan'an is my mother. In 1938, I fell into her arms when I was 18 years old. I have eaten millet from Yan'an, drank water from the Yanhe River, and more importantly, I have received the party's education with the people of Yan'an. "The Speech" has guided my life, taught me the ability to serve the people, and made my life full of happiness. "What will it be like when a person's youth, career and even love are closely connected with Yan'an. An unforgettable memory? From the face of Yu Lan, who is over 80 years old, and from her passionate words, we find the answer.

The painter Li Qi, who also has deep feelings for Yan'an, expresses his emotions in another way. In front of the Jiefang Theater at the foot of Qingliang Mountain in Yan'an, Li Qi, who was walking towards the theater with the bustling crowd, stopped, staring at the Pagoda Mountain in front of him shrouded in the dusk, and fell into deep thought. Standing next to him in this situation, we don't know how much youthful happiness and carefreeness this old man who came to Yan'an at the age of 9 and spent 9 years here has treasured in his memory. He just told us softly, more like talking to himself: "Every time I come to Yan'an, I have to take a good look at Pagoda Mountain..."

What is unforgettable for us is that the singer Guo Lanying performed with the singer Guo Lanying in Yangjialing. The scene of Yan'an fellow villagers dancing Yangko together. At the former site of the Yan'an Literature and Art Forum, Guo Lanying performed Yangko with a local farmer wearing a white sheep's belly scarf and carrying a waist drum. Amid everyone's applause, Guo Lanying sang "Embroidered Golden Plaque" affectionately. When she sang "Three embroidered Premier Zhou...", she could no longer suppress her excitement and choked up and couldn't sing anymore. Guo Lanying wiped the tears from her face and said: "I just want to sing more songs for the people of Yan'an."

When Li Shuwen, Party Secretary of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Qin Zhigang, Deputy Secretary of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, met with old literary and artistic artists who went to Yan'an to collect their works. When our family arrived at the former site of the Yan'an Literature and Art Forum, everyone unanimously said that we should take a photo at the birthplace of "Speech". Everyone was very emotionally invested in this group photo, because everyone wanted to treasure it forever.

Li Ruobing, chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and a famous writer who came from Yan'an, talks about Yan'an with a happy smile like a teenager on his face. He always has Yan'an in his heart, calling Yan'an his mother and the source of his life. “I was deeply emotionally involved in writing those poems about Yan’an.

Life is really the source of art; art takes root and blooms among the people. And the art that grows among the people is always worth our lives to experience.

Life is always worthy of our gratitude.

Everyone is willing to do something to promote the Yan'an Spirit and the spirit of the "Speech"

We are touched by everyone's help.

The leaders of the party group of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles gave strong support to our entire interview plan of "Re-Taking the Yan'an Road" and reminded us to pay attention to safety and learn more from local comrades. Zhang Baoqing, deputy secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, is very positive about our in-depth interviews on the front lines; the leading party group of the Shaanxi Federation of Literary and Art Circles has given strong support to our interviews; He helped us plan the topic, contact the interviewees, secure the vehicle for the interview, and even accompanied us all the way to Yan'an for the interview. Huang Daojun, director of the Office of the Shaanxi Federation of Literary and Art Circles and our reporter in Shaanxi, accompanied us throughout the interview and did a lot of complicated things for us. work; Zhang Xuncang, deputy secretary of the Yan'an Municipal Party Committee, and Hu Peiyuan, despite the heavy reception tasks, still accepted our interview, and Zhang Xuncang also provided us with a large number of pictures; Cao Zhenqian, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Yan'an Municipal Party Committee, and Ai Sheng, chairman of the Yan'an Federation of Literary and Art Circles A large number of artists from Yan'an accepted our interviews; Gao Fenglan, deputy secretary of the Yanchuan County Party Committee, organized a symposium for local artists of various categories in a short period of time; Liu Weihua, a collector of Yan'an historical materials, provided us with precious information free of charge Information; colleagues from Yan'an TV Station followed up and reported on our interview activities, and broadcast a feature film on the eve of "5·23". Zhang Conghai, director of the Hebei reporter station of this newspaper, and Chen Songliang, deputy director of the Xibaipo Memorial Hall, also provided important help for our interviews. Shanxi Coking Coal Group Party Committee Secretary Xue Shan and Deputy Secretary Li Ruilin, Shanxi Lingshi County Coal Transportation Company General Manager Zhang Jianxin, Office Director Wang Hongliang, Shanxi Changzhi Agricultural Bank of China President Niu Ziliang and others provided a lot of help to this reporter's trip to Shanxi. Sun Jingang, the vice president of the Agricultural Bank of China in Wuxiang, Shanxi Province, always accompanied us on the rugged mountain roads in the Taihang Mountains and worked tirelessly with us, which deeply moved us.

We will never forget all of this. An important reason why we received so much care and help is the theme of our interview: re-walking the Yan'an Road. Everyone hopes that our interview will be successful and is willing to do something to promote the Yan'an spirit and the spirit of the "Speech".

“This is an unforgettable experience in my journalistic career, and it is also of great significance in my life.” said a young reporter in the interview team who had just graduated a year ago. Her words also represent the voices of all colleagues in our interview team. We feel the love for life, the sincerity for art, and the persistence of faith in those predecessors who spent their lives pursuing their ideals. Chairman Mao asked literary and art workers to "step out of the small Lu art and move towards the big Lu art" and move towards a broad life. The location of this newspaper is the "Literary Garden" inscribed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping himself. The inspiration we get from the collection is: as reporters engaged in literary and artistic news reporting, we should also "step out of the small literary garden and move towards the big literary garden" to capture the splendor of the literary and artistic cause in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the writers and artists practicing the "Three Represents" ", figure in the process of developing advanced culture, and make due contributions to the dissemination of advanced culture
