Pingjiang County is located in the northeastern part of Hunan Province, on the upper reaches of Milishui River and Luoshui River. It borders Xiushui and Tonggu County of Jiangxi Province to the east, Tongcheng County of Hubei Province and Yueyang County of this province to the north, Liuyang City to the south, and Changsha County and Miluo City to the west. The geographical coordinates are 113°10′13_-114°9′6_ east longitude and 28°25′33_-29°6′'28_ north latitude. The total area is 4118 square kilometers. Total population 1 million (2003).

Climate

The climate within the territory belongs to the continental monsoon climate zone, a transitional climate zone from the east subtropical to the north subtropical. Main external transportation

The Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway passes through the county, with an entrance and exit in Wushi Town, and is connected to the county seat by Pingwu Highway.

With the renovation of the Pingjiang section of National Highway 106 and Provincial Highways 308 and 207, and the construction of Yue-Ru Expressway, Pingjiang will be integrated with Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan, and the location advantage will be further highlighted.
