Time for the eight regulations to be introduced

On December 4, 2012, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting and reviewed and approved the eight regulations of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee on improving work style and maintaining close contact with the masses.

The eight regulations are as follows:

1. It is necessary to travel lightly, reduce accompanying, and simplify reception. No slogans or banners are posted, no greetings are arranged for the masses, no welcome carpets are laid, no flowers and plants are placed, and no banquets are arranged.

2． It is necessary to streamline meeting activities, effectively improve the style of meetings, strictly control various national meetings and major activities held in the name of the central government, do not hold meetings for general deployment of work and make requests, and do not attend various ribbon-cuttings and meetings without the approval of the central government. Groundbreaking activities and celebrations, commemorations, commendations, expositions, seminars and various forums; improve the effectiveness of meetings, hold short meetings, speak short words, and avoid empty words and clichés.

3. It is necessary to streamline document presentations and effectively improve the writing style. Documents and briefings without substantive content, which can be issued or not, will not be issued.

4. It is necessary to standardize overseas visit activities, reasonably arrange overseas visits based on the overall needs of diplomatic work, strictly control the personnel accompanying overseas visits, and use transportation in strict accordance with regulations. Generally, representatives of Chinese-funded institutions, overseas Chinese, and international students are not arranged to wait at the airport to pick up and drop off.

5． It is necessary to improve security work, adhere to the principle of being conducive to contacting the masses, reduce traffic control, and under normal circumstances, road closures and venue closures are not allowed.

6． To improve news reporting, members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee should decide whether to report on meetings and activities based on work needs, news value, and social effects, and further reduce the number, word count, and duration of reports.

7. It is necessary to strictly publish manuscripts. Except for the unified arrangements of the central government, individuals shall not publicly publish single volumes of works or speeches, and shall not send congratulatory letters or telegrams, or write inscriptions or inscriptions.

8． It is necessary to practice diligence and frugality, strictly abide by the regulations on clean governance, and strictly implement the regulations on housing, vehicle equipment, etc. regarding work and life benefits.
