Xiongcun was originally a pearl on the ancient commercial road in Hunan and Guangxi. It is a traditional village with a history of 1500 years, which is more than 600 years earlier than the ancient town of Dawei built in the early Northern Song Dynasty. Therefore, there is a saying in the local area that "Xiongcun comes first, then Dawei". This statement has a historical basis. At first, it was called "Xiongjia Village" because the first family lived here named Xiong, whose ancestors came from Jiangxi. Later, with the construction of Xianggui Commercial Road, Xiongcun became an important transit point for merchants from south to north to gather, gradually prospered, and then people with other surnames began to flood in.

In the Ming Dynasty, the wild grass market was established, and the market was located in the present Xiongcun village. At the same time, Xiongjia Village was renamed Xiongcun, also known as Xiongcunwei and Daxiongwei. On the third day, the bazaar was as prosperous as Dawei ancient town ("bazaar" is the name of southern China, that is, "gathering" in the north).

The ancient commercial road in Hunan and Guangxi has flourished for more than 500 years, and some people call it the "Southern Silk Road". During the period of the Republic of China, with the opening of the Xiang-Gui Railway and the Gui-Huang Highway, modern transportation gradually replaced the traditional caravan, and this ancient Xiang-Gui commercial road declined and was finally abandoned, so did Xiongcun.

From the well-preserved Hunan Guild Hall, you can still enjoy the bustling scene of merchants gathered in all directions. It's a pity that we only saw Hunan Guild Hall, but didn't visit it.

The village has also been renovated accordingly, and some slogans of grasping the revolution and promoting the production period have been specially retained, which is very contemporary. There is no large-scale development and no noise in Guxiong Village!

Walking on the stone road in the village, one or two left-behind old people can be seen from time to time still clinging to the old house handed down by their ancestors.
