In 1963, more than 20 small towns were separated from Changshu and Jiangyin areas to form Shazhou County. In 1986, Shazhou County was removed from the county and established as a city. Because there is a Zhangjiagang channel in the territory, it was called Zhangjiagang City.

Zhangjiagang’s beautiful landscape is dotted with many ancient villages in the south of the Yangtze River. There is an ancient village in Miaoqiao Street, Tangqiao Town. The temples in the village are majestic and elegant, and the old streets of the Ming and Qing Dynasties are full of ancient charm.

There are more than a hundred households, many with the surname Jin. It was first called Jincun during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty.

This ancient village with a thousand-year culture and history has left behind a profound ancient charm. There is a small bridge and flowing water, and you live on the river, with towering elms and locust trees on both sides.

Jincun is an ancient cultural village. There are many ancestral halls built within a three-mile radius around the village, including 6 ancestral halls built during the Qing Dynasty. The deep ancient alley is so long and quiet that you can’t see the end at a glance. The old stone streets are still well preserved. The sun shines on the stone slabs, and the ancient alley is full of life.

Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there has been an endless stream of Jinshi, Juren, and students in the village. Celebrities such as Weng Tonghe, the imperial master of the two dynasties, Zhao Shinong, the seal engraver, Zhou Wenzai, the major general of the Republic of China and Zhou Wenzai, Master Zongcheng, the famous abbot of Jiming Temple in Nanjing, all left traces of their lives in Jincun.

Jincun has a profound cultural heritage and a large number of talents. The introductions of each wooden sign tell touching stories.

There is a unique two-story building on the ancient street, which is the site of the Jincun Party branch. The "Jin Changmao Rice Shop" was opened on the ground floor. At that time, the Jincun Party branch used this as a cover and it was a place where party members actively carried out revolutionary activities.

When I walked into the rice store, I saw bamboo baskets hanging high, the old window panes were antique, and there were various grains in the rice cabinet in the middle.

There are various models of farm tools in the inner room, and precious historical information pictures are posted on the walls. We looked at it carefully and were filled with admiration. Qiu Yan came to the kitchen of Mihang and saw the food on the Eight Immortals table, which was very realistic. Looking at these old stoves and furniture, I imagined the life of the revolutionary soldiers back then, and my thoughts were racing.

There is also a large and quiet courtyard in Mihangli, with a mottled ancient well in the middle, surrounded by sparse trees and winding corridors, making it appear peaceful, quiet and elegant.

Walking out of Mihang, a row of old houses retain their appearance from the 1960s and 1970s, with bright red slogans and portraits of workers, peasants and soldiers written prominently on the white walls, which have become an eternal memory for a generation. . Older people are looking for their lost youth here.

In 2012, Jincun was listed as a demonstration village for the renovation of old villages in Jiangsu Province. In order to protect the history, integrity and inheritance of the ancient village, Jincun built a relocation community with traditional Ming and Qing architectural complexes in the south of the Yangtze River - Jincun Garden.
