Hetang Town is a typical agricultural town. The party committee and government of the town attaches great importance to grain production. Last year, the town sought more than 7 million yuan in municipal fiscal funds for the town's rural water conservancy infrastructure construction and the construction of thousands acres of low-yield farmland renovation and land consolidation projects for comprehensive agricultural development, which has effectively improved the town's basic agricultural production conditions.

In 2009, there were 182 households in the town growing grain over 10 acres, 7 households growing over 50 acres, and 2 households growing over 200 acres.
