According to USA-Today, 9,000 couples in China plan to tie the knot on August 8 to celebrate the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games, and hope to get good luck from the series of lucky numbers of "8: 00 on August 8, 2008". There is no doubt that it is unprecedented for so many people to get married on the same day, and it may be the last time.

The Beijing Evening News quoted foreign media as saying that Liu Huiling and her fiance Liu Peng were one of "9,000 couples in China". Liu Huiling, 24, said: "We want to express our support for this century-old Chinese dream and the Olympic Games, and strive to be a part of this major event." On the opening day of the Olympic Games, she will enter the marriage hall and become a bride. Her fiance, Liu Peng, a 25-year-old travel agent, noticed that their wedding was held on the second day of the traditional Chinese Valentine's Day in China.

According to media reports, the number of "9,000 couples" is more than twice the previous record of one-day weddings in Beijing.

Wang Miao, director of a marriage registration office in Chongwenmen, Beijing, said that young people in Beijing have shown great enthusiasm since the Beijing Marriage Registration Office began to make appointments for marriage registration on the opening day of the Olympic Games in June.
