The regional culture of Linquan

Culture is one of Linquan’s comparative advantages. Linquan has more than 1,000 folk art teams, including 890 acrobatic teams. Swallows fly north and south, and immortals travel inside and outside the Great Wall. It talks about the influence of the two major acrobatic troupes in the county, Feiyan Acrobatic Troupe and Yingxian Circus, across the country. Among the 890 acrobatic teams in the county, large and medium-sized teams account for a very small part. Most of them are small family-workshop-style teams, with one family and one car, they can perform wherever they go. The Linquan County Acrobatic Team is a performance group voluntarily organized by the private sector, self-organized, self-developed and self-managed. Each team competes with each other and works independently, which is a typical small workshop-style production and operation model. It is difficult to form a big brand, which affects its own development and growth. At the same time, practicing acrobatics is difficult and has a short career. Many parents do not want their children to take this path, which objectively results in a lack of acrobatic reserve talents.

In response to this situation, Linquan County has introduced many measures to inherit folk art and develop cultural industries. The county party committee and county government attach great importance to the development and prosperity of folk acrobatics and regard it as an industry for economic development. Linquan County has established an intangible cultural heritage protection organization, raised funds from various sources, established a development fund, rewarded acrobatic circus teams and individuals with outstanding achievements and contributions, and encouraged them to innovate in program formats. Since 2009, the county has decided to hold an acrobatic circus art festival every two years. It will also regularly hold acrobatic, circus, and magic research and competitions to promote mutual exchanges between teams, learn from each other's strengths, and improve the overall level of the county's acrobatic circus teams.
