An Introduction to the History of the Party published the article "Liu Bocheng: Losing the Right Eye in the Battle of Fengdu, Surrounding Bashu with Danger". This article describes that from 19 13 to 1927 in the spring, Liu Bocheng fought in Bashu for more than ten years, and after five desperate times, he became a famous soldier in Sichuan. He broke away from the old army completely, resolutely joined the China Producers' Party, embarked on the revolutionary road, and achieved a major turning point in his life. Excerpts are as follows. Liu Bocheng is one of the founders of China People's Liberation Army and China People's Liberation Army College. 19 12 was admitted to Chongqing Military Government Distribution School in February. After graduation, he was assigned to the Xiong Kewu Department of Sichuan Army as the company commander and began his military career. From 19 13 to 1927, he fought in Bashu for more than 10 years. After five despairs, he became a famous soldier in Sichuan. He broke away from the old army completely, resolutely joined the China Producers' Party, embarked on the revolutionary road, and achieved a major turning point in his life. 19 16 At the beginning of this year, Cai E, the governor of Yunnan Province, launched a campaign to protect the family, opposed the restoration of Yuan Shikai and proclaimed himself emperor. Liu Bocheng returned to Sichuan from Shanghai, organized an armed uprising with Wang Bochang and Kang Yuncheng who insisted on the local revolutionary struggle in Fuling and other places in eastern Sichuan, and established the "Fourth Detachment of Sichuan National Guard" with Liu Bocheng as the military command. After the news spread, farmers from all over eastern Sichuan swarmed in, invulnerable, and the rebel army quickly developed to more than 2,000 people. Liu Bocheng commanded the insurgents to fight guerrilla warfare in counties in eastern Sichuan, scaring the Beiyang Army stationed here to stay in the city all day and dare not go out easily. In the same year, Yunnan National Guards went to South Sichuan to fight to the death with Yuan Shikai's Beiyang Army. In order to support Yunnan National Guard, Liu Bocheng and Wang Bochang decided to lead the fourth detachment of Sichuan National Guard to cross the river and capture Fengdu County, which was heavily defended by Beiyang Army. This can not only control a large area of eastern Sichuan, but also cut off the traffic on the Yangtze River, and prevent Yuan Shikai from sending reinforcements to southern Sichuan, thus putting Beiyang Army in a dilemma. To this end, Liu Bocheng made careful operational arrangements: First, a few days before entering Fengdu, he sent people to the city for reconnaissance, contacted the revolutionaries and social leaders there, and asked them to send social armed personnel into the city; Second, more than 100 resourceful and brave soldiers were selected from the National Self-Defense Army, put on plain clothes and lurked in the city, ready to cooperate internally and externally when the National Guards attacked the city; Third, send people to secretly post and distribute Xun Wen for Yuan and the slogan for Yuan, so as to shake the enemy's morale. After everything was ready, Liu Bocheng and others headed for Fengdu on the morning of March 19, and stopped at Makou, 40 kilometers away from Fengdu. At the same time, people were sent to Fengdu to continue spying on the enemy, and soldiers were ordered to post notices and slogans along the way, draw road sections, set up tea stations and search in the direction of Fengdu. At the same time, the large troops hid in the nearby Woods and prepared to move on after dinner. At this time, the scouts came back and reported that the enemy had set an ambush on the way to Fengdu. Therefore, Liu Bocheng decided to adopt the strategy of "building a plank road openly and building a plank road secretly". When the sun was about to set, he set off from Makou Cliff with a great army and went straight to Fengdu along the left. After walking more than ten miles, he stopped the troops to rest until it was dark. Then he changed the defender into a striker, changed the sharp soldier into a defender, and returned to Maguia along the original road. Then, in the dim moonlight, they quietly changed a correct road, arrived at the new town only 1.5km away from Fengdu City on the morning of March 20th, and immediately controlled the commanding heights nearby. The enemy of Xincheng was caught off guard and was quickly annihilated. At this time, the armed men of the National Guard lurking in Fengdu City and his buddies, as soon as they heard the gunshots outside the city, immediately rushed to the west gate according to the pre-agreed operational plan and shouted in unison: "The National Guard has been killed in the city, and we have won!" The enemy is just around the corner.
Just as the troops were fighting and retreating, Liu Bocheng suddenly found that a soldier around him was not hidden and was threatened by enemy fire. He immediately rushed over and shouted, "Danger, get down!" " "Suddenly, a bullet flew over his head and emerged from his right eye. Liu Bocheng's eyes suddenly burst out from her eyes and passed out in pain. Seeing that the Beiyang Army had invaded the city, the soldiers quickly carried Liu Bocheng into a drugstore, bandaged his head, hid it in the warehouse upstairs, and locked the door in case the enemy found it. Soon, due to the burning and looting of Beiyang Army, the pharmacy caught fire, and Liu Bocheng was awakened by the smoke. He struggled to climb to the door, found the door locked, broke open the small window, covered his head with a quilt, and rolled out of the window, just in time to be seen by several soldiers who were looking for him. As a result, Liu Bocheng was quickly transferred from the city. After many treatments, Liu Bocheng lost his right eye forever.
