The state protects the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic minorities

The "Constitution of the People's Republic of China" stipulates that the state protects the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic minorities. All persons with the nationality of the People's Republic of China are citizens of the People's Republic of China. All citizens of the People's Republic of China are equal before the law. The state respects and protects human rights. Every citizen enjoys the rights stipulated in the constitution and laws and must fulfill the obligations stipulated in the constitution and laws. The People's Republic of China implements the rule of law and builds a socialist country under the rule of law. The state safeguards the unity and dignity of the socialist legal system.

Article 4

All ethnic groups in the People's Republic of China are equal. The state protects the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic minorities and maintains and develops equality, unity, mutual assistance and harmonious relations among all ethnic groups. Discrimination and oppression against any ethnic group are prohibited, and actions that undermine national unity and create national divisions are prohibited.

The state helps various ethnic minority areas accelerate economic and cultural development based on the characteristics and needs of each ethnic minority.

Regional autonomy shall be implemented in places where various ethnic minorities live together, and autonomous organs shall be established to exercise autonomy. All ethnic autonomous areas are inseparable parts of the Communist Party of China and the country.

All ethnic groups have the freedom to use and develop their own spoken and written languages, and they all have the freedom to maintain or reform their own customs and habits.
