The Contemporary Development of Emei Wushu

1983, Sichuan Provincial Sports Commission collected a large number of martial arts materials for rescuing, excavating and popularizing Emei martial arts, interviewed thousands of old boxers over 60 years old in Bashu area, recorded their boxing methods, and collected 68 sects, 2368 kinds of unarmed, instruments, duet routines, training methods and martial arts events, more than Shaolin martial arts collected in the same period.

In Britain, there is the International White Eyebrows Wushu Federation founded by Huang Jifu and Smith. In the United States, there are Emei martial arts schools founded by Chen Jian and Chen Chaohui; In Italy, there is also the Emei Martial Arts School established by Xu Hao; In Canada, Li Rong founded Emei Wushu Qigong Health Care Center and Samsung Tai Ji Chuan. Liang Shouyu, a Canadian Chinese who is good at snake boxing, has organized martial arts exchanges between Canada and Sichuan many times.

In order to revitalize Emei Wushu, Sichuan Wushu Museum and Sichuan Wushu Association were established successively. Many martial arts schools or schools have been established in Leshan, Emei, Jiajiang, Meishan and Chengdu. Emeishan Municipal Government began to promote Wushu exercise in primary and secondary schools, starting with children. Emei Wushu Performance Troupe composed of Leshan Giant Buddha Wu Wen School has performed in Emei Mountain, Chengdu-Chongqing and Shenzhen-Hong Kong for many times. There are also many foreign youths who go to Leshan Giant Buddha Wu Wen School to study Emei Wushu. In September 2002, during the 4th Leshan International Tourism Giant Buddha Festival, the "Shaolin, Wudang and Emei Wushu Classic Competition" was held in Emei Mountain to promote the revitalization of Emei Wushu.

China Emei Wushu Research Association was established in the summer of 2004, and now it has grown to more than 500 members, sorting out Emei Wushu materials and cultivating top Wushu students from teenagers. A group of young masters such as "Thirteen Swords of Emei" emerged.

In 2009, it was selected into the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage listNo. VI-23.

On March 20 14, a representative Emei Wushu costume (appearance patent No.200 12 10635090) was designed under the research of "Design and Development of Wushu Costume Based on Emei Wushu Culture" (National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project Training Plan) with the project leader Deng Chunshan.
