Geography and Geomorphology of Tiantai Mountain Scenic Spot in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province

Tiantai Mountain is surrounded by a basket shape from the south, west and north, and the east side is open to the outside, showing three steps of flat land in turn; Due to the special geographical environment, it has become a residential climate with warm winter and cool summer, with a forest coverage rate of 94%. Trees are shaded all year round and flowers bloom all the year round. The highest Yuxiaofeng is 1812 meters above sea level. The platform is criss-crossed with ravines, caves and strange rocks. Jinlong River passes through the platform, and the water surface is colorful. With the ups and downs of the platform, many long beaches, stacked streams, flowing springs and waterfalls are formed. The famous Xiangshuitan Waterfall has a drop of more than 4 meters and a width of more than 1 meters. It falls in eight levels, showing an arc with a span of 15 meters, which is very spectacular.

This mountain has a peculiar landform, good vegetation, mild climate and abundant rainfall. Tiantai Mountain is a famous religious mountain in history. Since it was called Tiantai in the Han Dynasty, Taoists carved holes in the mountains and built altars to worship the gods. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, monks from the Western Regions traveled here and founded Tiantai Buddhist Temple. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, religion spread, and Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism coexisted in Tiantai Mountain. There were more than 1 Taoist temples, Buddhist temples and "palace houses", and a "monk street" was built and a "monk yamen" was set up. This is the only ancient religious court in China, where great painters Wen Tong and great poets Lu You once led religious affairs. There are many spans in the mountains now, for tourists to control the past and remember the seclusion. Tiantai Mountain is also the place where the Red Army's Long March passed. It is an old revolutionary base area. There are dozens of Red Army stations, hospitals, trenches, stone slogans and the former site of the Soviet government. At present, the "Red Army Long March Memorial Hall" is being built.
