Brief introduction of township industry

Collective, cooperative, individual industrial enterprises and other forms of cooperative industrial enterprises organized by rural townships, towns and villages in China. Township industrial enterprises are the main body of farmers' enterprises in rural areas, that is, township enterprises. In the first half of 1980s, township industry accounted for 55% of the total number of township enterprises, and its output value accounted for about 76% of the total output value of township enterprises. Because these industrial enterprises are distributed in rural areas and their market towns, they are mainly owned by farmers collectively or individually, so they are also called rural industries.
