202 1 Summer Note 5: Saving the Desperate Soul-Transcendence

If you often travel in "Netease Cloud Music" at midnight, then you must have seen some sad comments under sad tunes: "People live to save themselves", "Extreme madness is an instant, and long time is death" and so on. In fact, they are all from some classic books or movies. Mourning culture is constantly impacting young people, and sad art is constantly infiltrating people's hearts.

Transcendence is such a work, telling the story of a lonely substitute teacher. Henry came to a loose school and experienced a beautiful and hopeful life, but he also experienced a story of despair brought by an education system.

The hero Henry is a lonely man with a miserable childhood, but he still has hope for life. He is young, but he is old. The high school he replaced is the worst in the city and is facing bankruptcy due to the teaching crisis. But all this is because of the education system. Teachers have worked hard and spent almost half their lives here. But the system assigns the students with the worst grades in the city to this place.

There is a scene in this movie in which a student who has given up hope in his studies walks into the office. The girl who failed without reporting, the girl who has no skills to compete with 80% people in the United States, will never succeed in her life and will be replaced by machines one day. These, she doesn't care at all, these teachers are desperately trying to save students who have lost their souls in the worst school in this city. Teachers watch these students ruin their lives every day, teaching them despair and pain, because you can't save a soul that has given up, and teachers can't get a little understanding.

While teaching, Henry saved a lost girl who wandered the streets all night, which is one of the few hopes of this film. Henry took her home, cured her, let her live in her own house and made a floor for herself. The looming memory of that scene is the afternoon after the snow when Henry was a child, which makes me feel that Henry and the girl are like a father and daughter, but the reality is cruel and Henry must leave the girl.

Henry saved many teenagers who lost their feet, but the teenager who scolded Henry in the first class was reluctant when Henry was leaving. But he still didn't have time to save a lonely soul. Her paintings are cold and dark because she feels the pressure of youth, but her paintings are very artistic. However, her father was confused. The fatigue brought by work and the painting that is too negative for girls make her father's emotions completely explode and girls suffer.

Later, a series of blows hurt the girl's mind, so she picked up the camera and chose to make some cakes before the school closed for everyone to taste, while eating poisonous cakes herself.

The film wants to express too much and too deeply. After reading it, I can't be calm for a long time. The people in the film are under all kinds of pressure, some people are saved, and some people can't bear it at last.

These things are helpless, whether they are teachers who work hard but are not understood, gloomy girls who love to create, girls who wander the streets, or substitute teachers Henry. Everything is helpless. I can't say for a moment whether this desperate education system may also reflect something. Movies are much more than that. Maybe teachers can appreciate the helplessness brought by this movie. I tried to substitute myself into the role, and the pressure they faced was indescribable.
