Rock Tea Family

People often say that in Wuyi Mountain, "Tea is found in rocks, but there is no tea in non-rocks." Wuyi Mountain has a long history There have been classification standards based on region in the past, and tea can be divided into rock, continent and outer mountains.

Those on the mountain are called Rock Tea, those by the water are called Zhou Tea, and those outside Wuyi Mountain are called Waishan Tea. Rock tea can be further divided into true rock tea and semi-rock tea.

Zhengyan tea

Zhengyan tea can literally be understood as the most authentic, orthodox, most prestigious and top-quality type of Wuyi rock tea.

Zhengyan refers to the rock tea production area. In the past, the traditional mountain farm divisions referred to three pits and two streams, namely Niulan pit, Huiyuan pit, Dakengkou, and Liuxiang stream. Only the rock tea from Wuyuanjian can be called "Zhengyan".

Outer Rock

Banyan refers to the part within Wuyishan Scenic Area but not in the core scenic area.

Summary

Zhengyan tea can be called Wuyi rock tea, but not all Wuyi rock teas are Zhengyan tea. The word, tea trees must grow in the Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area.
