Tsinghua+Tencent: New Scientific Research, New Cultural Creation and New Youth.

On September 28th, Tsinghua University and Tencent reached a special cooperation on the anniversary. Taking the anniversary of the founding of Tsinghua 1 10 as an opportunity, they have carried out in-depth cooperation in scientific research, innovation, internship for college students, science education for teenagers, and made due contributions to the development of science, technology, culture and education.

Thank you very much for your speech to Bohai Secretary. I am very excited to stand here today and witness the strategic cooperation between Tencent and Tsinghua University. 28 years ago, it was also a golden autumn. I also walked into the Tsinghua campus with excitement and started my five-year study time. Every time I think of those days, what I think of most is the dream of taking Einstein as an example in the physics department and the memory of pursuing art in the school drama team. Science and art are my two key words in Tsinghua, and they have also become an important theme in my life. It can be said that Tsinghua has subtly changed my life with its strong scientific and cultural atmosphere.

Next year is the anniversary of the founding of my alma mater 1 10. I extend my deep thanks and blessings to my alma mater. In the history of Tsinghua 1 10, there were pioneers in the fields of science, such as Ye, Wu and so on, who made the development of science and technology realize the dream of strengthening the country; There are also masters in the field of culture such as Liang Qichao, Feng Youlan and Qian Zhongshu, which make China culture inherit and develop. Tsinghua has cultivated generations of talents with the academic concept of "integration of Chinese and Western, integration of ancient and modern, infiltration of arts and sciences" and the spirit of "self-improvement, respect for morality", which has promoted the road of rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Science, technology, culture and responsibility run through the century-old glory of Tsinghua.

This year, Tencent is about to celebrate its 22nd birthday. According to the stage of life, Tencent just graduated from college. Young as we are, we share the same ideals and ambitions as Tsinghua. Science and technology, culture and responsibility have been integrated into the company's bone marrow and become the three pillars of our development. It is this common pursuit that makes us walk with Tsinghua, face the increasingly uncertain world, explore new propositions of science and technology, culture and responsibility, and promote the sustainable development of human society. To put it simply, standing at the historical moment of Tsinghua 1 10, there are four "new" cooperation between the two sides:

First of all, it is new scientific research. Science and technology are the primary productive forces, and basic research is the source of scientific and technological innovation. As Ma, Chairman and CEO of Tencent, said, "For every inch of building with innovative application, the foundation of basic research will be dug a foot deeper." We hope to become Tsinghua University's digital assistant and help the development of basic scientific research. During this year's epidemic, Tencent Cloud provided massive high-performance computing and storage resources for Professor Huang Niu's laboratory in Tsinghua University Institute of Biomedical Interdisciplinary Sciences, and helped COVID-19 develop drugs. In the future, Tencent will further open its resources and capabilities in cloud computing and AI, and explore building a cloud incubation platform with Tsinghua.

The second is new cultural creation. The history of Tsinghua University is a microcosm of the rise of national struggle in the past century: from Tsinghua School founded by boxer indemnity to Tsinghua School baptized by the Revolution of 1911; From Tsinghua University, a country that explores academic independence and educational independence, to the persistent national Southwest Associated University. It is no exaggeration to say that Tsinghua University is a cultural IP bearing the struggle spirit of the modern Chinese nation. In the future, we will continue to strengthen the cultural IP of "Tsinghua University" and carry forward and inherit the struggle spirit of national rise through new production methods. At present, we have started shooting the TV series Our The National SouthWest Associated University in Tsinghua, and through the life stories of a group of young students, we show how The National SouthWest Associated University realized the ideal of saving the country through science and education in the war. Tencent hopes to reproduce those eventful years with the concept of new cultural creation, and make the spirit of perseverance and patriotic struggle of National Southwest Associated University become a valuable spiritual wealth for more people.

The third is new practice. During the epidemic this year, Tencent and Tsinghua University began to explore the "cloud internship" model. By establishing the remote internship mechanism, we provided the "cloud internship" course for 20 students of Tsinghua Institute of Software. After five weeks of training and practice, the students produced four excellent small game works and successfully completed their defense. In the future, I hope to explore the digital transformation of higher education through new practice modes such as "cloud internship". We plan to open a number of scientific laboratories of Tencent Cloud and Smart Industry Cluster, as well as core businesses such as Tencent Pictures, Reading Group and tencent games, and provide hundreds of places for students to practice in the cloud, so as to apply what they have learned and promote learning through application.

Finally, the new youth. If the youth is strong, the country will be strong. The imagination and curiosity of teenagers are the kindling of human scientific discovery and technological innovation. We hope to work with Tsinghua University to ignite the inner fire of teenagers and cultivate new young people who love science. Last year, we jointly held the Tencent Youth Science Conference with Tsinghua University, which allowed children and parents to have face-to-face communication with the world's top scientists. Surprisingly, although the dolls are very young, they have done enough homework. During the interview, everyone has a thick stack of English materials, and the interview questions are very deep, which makes scientists very happy. The children's enthusiasm for science touched the team and strengthened our determination to continue holding small meetings.

Standing at the historical node of Tsinghua University 1 10, we look forward to working with Tsinghua to continue to exert our efforts in basic scientific research, promote cultural inheritance and development, help educational practice and popular science among dolls, achieve Excellence through self-improvement and shape the future through innovation.
