Mr. Lu Xun is my friend, and his knowledge and morality are inseparable. Since 19? We met in Tokyo two years later, until he 1936 died. We often met and made friends for 35 years. This year, on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of his death, I will briefly write some memories as follows:

The greatness of transforming social thought

Nineteen? Two years ago, Lu Xun and I prepared Japanese at Hongwen College in Tokyo, but they were in different classes and different study rooms. He came to me for the first time, and now I can't remember what we talked about at the beginning. One day, when we talked about China people's life in history, especially when they became slaves of foreign countries, we were more sad. Since then, we have become closer. When we meet, we often talk about the shortcomings of China's national character. It is very exciting in a foreign country ... We often talk about three related questions: (1) What is the ideal human nature? (2) What is the most lacking among all ethnic groups in China? (3) What is the root cause? For (1), because philosophers at all times and all over the world are tirelessly pursuing it, we can choose the good ones and follow them, not to mention. For the exploration of (2), at that time, we felt that what our nation lacked most was sincerity and love-in other words, it was deeply caught in the fault of deception, shameless and suspicion. The slogan is beautiful, the slogan and the declaration are beautiful, and the book is full of high-sounding rhetoric, but according to reality, it is not the case at all. As for the crux of (3), of course, we should explore it from history. Although there are many reasons, being enslaved by a foreign country twice is considered to be the biggest and deepest root. Where else can slaves say sincere love? ..... The only remedy is revolution. When we talk together, we often forget the time. Since then, I have admired his lofty ideals and great vision. This is why he later decided to study medicine and resolutely gave up medicine to study literature. I like to read his novel The Rabbit and the Cat (Scream for short), because two small creatures (rabbits) have disappeared, and there is no trace in the history of biology. Inference, when it comes to pigeon feathers under locust trees, dogs that have been run over on the road, and the squeaking of flies in summer nights, it comes down to the fact that creation has made too many lives and destroyed too many lives. Here, I think we can see the greatness of his thought.

Second, the correctness of judging the value of things.

Lu Xun had several motives for studying medicine. According to himself, first, I hate Chinese medicine for delaying my father's illness; Second, it is clear that the Meiji Restoration in Japan mostly originated from Western medicine. But as far as I know, there is a third kind: helping China women's little feet; According to Mr. Sun Fuyuan, there is a fourth kind: childhood toothache. This is also a fact. Didn't he mention this story in the article From Beard to Teeth (Tomb)? Lu Xun studied mining at first, then medicine. Naturally, he has a strong foundation in explaining science, such as geology, mineralogy, chemistry, physics, physiology, anatomy, pathology and bacteriology. Not only that, he also deeply studied normative science. Didn't he get the best grade in ethics in medical college? I think we should pay attention to this. Although he is immoral, he is most committed to the distinction between good and evil. Only in this way can he objectively explain the facts and subjectively judge the value of everything. When it is applied to creation, there is a two-pronged approach. For example, he used medical knowledge to write Diary of a Madman, summarizing the judgment of good and evil. He said: "I didn't know at first, but now I understand that it is really difficult to meet a real person!" " He also used Floyd's theory to write "mending the sky", explaining the greatness and beauty of Nu Wa's creativity, which boils down to judging the thoroughness of her spirit of self-sacrifice, saying: "I exhausted myself, so I stayed in the middle (the sun and the moon) and stopped breathing." This is not a value judgment that has been trained in normative science and understands truth, goodness and beauty. Where did this happen? This kind of cultivation is necessary to know people and discuss the world, refute others and be in an invincible position. Lu Xun has this accomplishment, so he refuses to describe or fabricate novelty too much in conversation or writing. We judge value on the basis of facts everywhere, not only being good at literary skills.

Third, a strong interest in reading.

When Lu Xun studied literature and art in Tokyo, he studied philology with Zhang Taiyan, Russian with the Russian Revolutionary Party and German in a foreign language school. I was with him. He seldom visited abroad in his life and stayed in the East for seven years. I remember only seeing the cherry blossoms in Ueno with him twice, or just going to Nanjiangtang to buy books. The rest are second-hand bookstores in Kaneda area and bookstores in Maruyama Bookstore in Ginza. He is very interested in reading, unlike most people who read textbooks; Buying books is also very extensive. Every time I come back from the bookstore, my wallet is empty. I say with a wry smile, "I'm poor again!" " This kind of reading because of hobbies has no concept of fame and fortune. We tried to read "A Miscellaneous Talk on Reading", and he advised students to "read more books outside their duties, that is, extra-curricular books, not just books in class". In Introduction to Little John, he described the owner of a second-hand bookstore as a spider in a net, waiting for a flying insect, and said, "I wandered inside to see if I bought some books, which made me feel a little empty in my arms." After teaching in Hangzhou, I like to collect and study plant specimens, and I like to collect and study ancient tablet rubbings in Beijing. It's all for science and art. This is Lu Xun's attitude towards reading and learning.

The above three points are part of Lu Xun's specialty. There are many other advantages, which I neglected.

Tell another anecdote about him. He returned to Tokyo from Sendai, and got off midway to pay tribute to the story of Zhu Shunshui's remains. I have already said it in the preface of Mr. Wang's Mr. Lu Xun before People's Republic of China (PRC), and I don't intend to repeat it here. Once, he left Tokyo for Sendai, paid the manpower fare and bought a train ticket, leaving only two silver coins and two copper coins in his bag. Because the train arrived overnight, his tuition has been sent directly to the school for accommodation. He boldly bought twenty cents of cigarettes and stuffed them in his pocket. With enough food and grass, he boarded the bus. Unexpectedly, when the bus arrived at a station, many passengers swarmed in and there were no seats on the bus. When Lu Xun saw an old woman coming, he stood up as usual and offered to sit down. The woman was so grateful that she thanked him again and again. She started talking and gave him a big bag of salty pancakes. He chewed a lot and felt a little thirsty. At one stop, he ordered tea, but immediately remembered the situation in the bag and had to stutter. But when the old woman heard that he couldn't buy it, she hurried to call him tea at the second stop. Lu Xun had to dodge and say that he didn't want it now. So she bought him a pot, and he drank it rudely. Lu Xun's works, big or small, always have a sense of adventure without looking forward.

Have another drink. 19 18, when I was in Nanchang, I unfortunately had a dream of cooking in a mortar. Lu Xun sent a letter of condolence from afar to the effect that when his wife first arrived in Nanchang, she heard the bad news. My brothers are unfortunate, but I think that if children have a loving mother or are happy, but if they lose their mother when they are young, it is not entirely unfortunate. They may become more brave and unrestrained. What he said is very reasonable, but only Lu Xun can write a letter of condolence in such terms.
