The development history of radar troops
In September 1949, our army established the first radar team of the People's Liberation Army on Anguo Road, Shanghai. Utilizing two old Japanese-made Type 4 radars and 8 technical personnel left by the Kuomintang, they began to undertake air security tasks on October 1.
On April 22, 1950, the first radar battalion of our army was established in Nanjing. It was equipped with 2 Japanese-made Type 4 warning radars, 4 Type 313 warning radars and the US-made Type 602 surround view radar. Radar Department 4, designated Radar 101 Battalion, is known to the outside world as the Telecommunications Brigade of the Aviation Department of the East China Military Region. Later, 8 radar battalions were established in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenyang, Guangdong, Hangzhou, Anton and other places. At that time, there were 9 radar battalions in the entire army.
On November 10, 1952, the first radar regiment of our army’s air defense force was established. Since then, 7 radar regiments have been established in Beijing, Guangzhou, Anton, Hangzhou and other places, and 8 radar regiments have been established in Japan.
After the merger of the Air Defense Force and the Air Force in 1957, the Radar Corps was affiliated with the Air Force and was responsible for nationwide air intelligence support tasks. Today, the main body of our military's radar forces is in the Air Force, but the Navy and Army also have different numbers of radar units. ?
At 9:41 on October 7, 1959, our military made history by shooting down an aircraft with a surface-to-air missile for the first time in the world. The role of radar soldiers in this is irreplaceable.
In the new century, the radar force's establishment system has been adjusted and reformed to further adapt to the characteristics of radar soldiers. The radar force's maneuverability, survivability, anti-interference ability and degree of automation have all made huge leaps.
In the 21st century, our country’s development in radar technology has become more scientific and technological. All types of radars produced (including fighter airborne radars) are among the most advanced in the world. I believe that under the day and night supervision of our motherland’s clairvoyants, , will promptly attack the invading enemy.
