Unforgettable Ice City

-My University Life

Text/Cambridge

If I were a bird,

I should also sing with a hoarse throat:

This land was hit by the storm,

This river is always surging with our grief and indignation,

This angry wind is blowing endlessly.

why do I often have tears in my eyes?

Because I love this land deeply ...

? -Inscription

At the age of 18, I first stepped on black soil with my feet on it. It was at 7 o'clock in the morning on September 3, 1984, and I took the No.18 train from Beijing to Harbin. Because I transferred my visa from Beijing, I didn't sign in my seat. Because I was young, there was no way to stop all the way to Harbin.

As soon as I got out of the station, the sun was shining and the sky was clear in Wan Li. The golden buildings, exotic buildings and spacious and tidy squares suddenly caught my eye. I thought, this Harbin is much bigger than the county seat of our house. What is the provincial capital? It's a little like Granny Liu entering the Grand View Garden-confused.

Later, I learned that Harbin, also known as the Ice City, which I set foot on, is not an ordinary city, but a big city in Northeast Asia and even the whole of Asia. It is also known as "Moscow in the East" and "Little Paris in the East". Compared with other cities in China, her unique urban style and exotic life charm can be regarded as second to none. The unique tram in China shuttled through the railway station square, which really surprised my Shanliwa for a long time, thinking how can this "train" run in the city?

The shape of the railway station, the big clock in the square in front of the station, and foreigners with blond hair and blue eyes ... While looking around, a big brother from Northeast China suddenly stood in front of me and asked me in an unheard-of Northeast dialect: Do you want to engrave on a pen? Before I know it, don't put the pen in my pocket and it has already gone to the big fellow's hand. He threw himself and quickly carved the words "Harbin as a souvenir" on the pen, and then stretched out his hand to ask for 2 yuan money engraving fee. Oh, my god, I can't bear to eat or drink the money saved on this train. How can I give it to others? But I'm new here, and I'm a stranger. How dare I argue? I'll pay up and leave. In an instant, the good mood was drenched with "a cold water".

because I don't know how far Harbin is, it will take several days by train, so I arrived two days earlier than the check-in time on September 5th. There was no sign to pick up the station in the square in front of the station, and there was no guidance from the staff. So I had to follow the instructions on the admission notice and take the No.9 bus to find the school. When I saw white coats coming in and out of nangang district Health Care Road, a stone in my heart finally fell to the ground. When I looked up, I saw the sign of "Harbin Medical University". Although the gate was nothing special, I felt that these words were generous, simple and elegant, and full of charm. It was only later that I learned that the name of the school was inscribed by the famous Mr. Guo Moruo. From then on, I remembered the style of Guo Lao's calligraphy.

After finding the dormitory, I found that a classmate Xing from Jining City, Inner Mongolia had already reported to me first. When asked, it turned out to be we are both unhappy -- to the sky's end. Later, this classmate ranked second in the dormitory, and everyone called him Xing Laoer, but I always thought he should be called "Xing Laoda", and he was the first to report for duty in the 29th period. Then I met Zhu Lidong from Chongming Island in Shanghai at the school hostel. As a newcomer, he shook his long hair and wore green bell-bottoms and couldn't understand a word he said. He looked like a "punk" on the beach, which made me feel a sense of distance. Unexpectedly, Mr. Jing Zhifen put us in a dormitory, but also bunk beds, and later became good buddies who talked about everything.

College life is tense and busy, which is completely different from middle school. First of all, we must face dialects from all over the country and learn Mandarin ourselves. After signing up, I was assigned to dormitory 212 in Building 6, where nine people lived. There are students from Heilongjiang province, Shanghai, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Zhejiang and Gansu provinces. According to the custom in Northeast China, the nine brothers are ranked according to their age. Boss Feng Zhitian, from Shenyang, is now engaged in health supervision in Liaoning Health Service Center; Wang Jingmin, the second child, comes from Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, and is now engaged in anesthesia in the Sixth People's Hospital of Beijing. The third son, Yuan Wenguo, comes from qitaihe city, Heilongjiang Province. After staying in school that year, he now goes abroad to develop in Canada. Fang Yong, the fourth son, from Harbin, is said to have been assigned to the Sports Management Center of Heilongjiang Province after graduation, but there has been no news so far. Old Five Ma Fuxiang, from Shengxian County, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province (now Shengzhou City), dropped out of school for mental reasons in his sophomore year, and later transferred to the thirtieth year. He relapsed in less than half a year and had to be sent back to his hometown. Now he doesn't know if he is still alive. Laoliu Tianjiang, from Mishan County, Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, is now engaged in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases in Liaoning Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention; Old seven Zhu Lidong, from Chongming County, Shanghai, is now engaged in management work in Chongming District Center for Disease Control and Prevention; Lao Ba is myself, from Pingliang City, Gansu Province, and now Gansu Provincial Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine is engaged in party affairs; Laojiu Guo Wei, from Harbin, is now engaged in management work in Heilongjiang Clinical Laboratory Center. Because of the needs of clinical practice and specialized courses, our dormitory is not the same as that of engineering colleges. Instead, we changed our dormitory three times and divided into three classes in five years, but the room 212 impressed us the most.

classmates' feelings are as deep as the sea, so pay attention to good memories. Here, I can't recall every classmate, but several students with special personalities are still fresh in my memory.

Wu Shuangquan, the tallest person I met in those years, comes from a place rich in "Wuchang rice" in Heilongjiang Province. He was the president of the grade student union as soon as he entered the school, and now he is still busy as the president of the class reunion.

Zhang Lin, a tall, slender southerner from Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, joined the Party in high school and became the first monitor of the old class. When she graduated, she returned to Nanjing with a beautiful classmate Han Yuee from Mudanjiang.

Feng Zhitian, a father and son soldier, whose father was an alumnus of the 12th issue in 1965, is called "old comrade-in-arms". Because I was determined to follow in my father's footsteps, I took the exam for three years and became my classmate. It is rare for father and son to be alumni of each other in history, and I think it is rare in Harbin Medical University.

Zhang Jun, who became famous in the speed skating competition for middle school students in Heilongjiang Province, specially enrolled in the school and won many honors for his alma mater. He belongs to an all-round talent and can play, pull, play and sing anything. Feeling that it was not easy for his mother to raise him alone, he resolutely returned to Mudanjiang with Xu Ying, a beautiful classmate from the Department of Stomatology in Yichun, when he graduated.

Zhuang Yingjie, who had long hair and wore bell-bottoms in the early 198s, could only hold the guitar and throw her long hair and sing the song Mei Lan Mei Lan I Love You.

Xu Genlin, also a musician, can play the guitar without a teacher, but he never wants to show his talent in public, but hides in the corner and enjoys himself. Unexpectedly, after graduation, he abandoned medicine and went into business, learned the way of Gou Jian, the king of Yue, and worked hard for ten years to become an elite in business.

Jin Qiming, the first in the whole grade, was admitted to the Department of Stomatology, and now she is an excellent practicing dentist in the United States.

An Fengqi, a modern version of Yu Zecheng, has first-class latent technology. I haven't seen him talk to anyone for a day in college for five years, and he is always a loner. The impression he gives to his classmates is that he has strong hands-on ability and often helps female students with this and that, so he was elected as the Minister of Life. Unexpectedly, when I graduated, I didn't even go back to my hometown in Tianjin, but I went to the desert Lucheng-Baotou to settle down with my beautiful classmate Gao Chunfang fly with me at the same table. It is understood that the couple still love each other as before.

Lou? Pavilion, wearing a pair of glasses with high myopia, speaks fast and loudly, and wins the tens of thousands of meters in the sports ground, leaving Li Haibo, Lu Xiangshi, Li Xue and me far behind;

Li Jinshan and Zhang Yandong, the stars who made a splash at the literary evening, wrote, performed and buried each other's crosstalk, which still reverberated in their ears;

Yang Jun and Zhong Siqing, nicknamed "combination of high and low cabinets" by classmates, were unknown at school, but now they have both made great achievements in the field of public health in their hometown.

Zhang Jifang, who lives in Harbin, invited several of our classmates who didn't come home from other places to her house in the summer of 1987 when Harbin was flooded. The home-cooked meal that my parents cooked for us was the best meal I have ever eaten, and I have always told Yang Shumin about it.

Tian Jiang, also in the summer vacation that year, invited me to visit his hometown in Mishan, which opened my eyes and gave me a taste of the state-owned farm on the black land. Now, whenever I see the picture of the farm on TV, I will think of Mishan;

Xia Zicheng comes from Yu Dafu's hometown. In those days, I came to Beiguo Ice City with Yu Dafu's masterpiece "Sinking" from the water town in the south of the Yangtze River. In every word and deed, I always showed the confidence and pride of young artists. When I graduated, I earned a lot of money, brought my fellow villager and classmate "Xueba" Yang Xizhen back to Fuyang, and also learned that Yu Dafu extended his love story by the Fuchun River.

Liu Aimin, a fellow countryman of Zheng Banqiao, and Shi Naian completed the masterpiece Water Margin in his hometown of Dafeng County. When she was at school, she didn't know what martial arts was, but she fell in love with Tai Ji Chuan when she was nearly 3 years old, and even served as the secretary general of the District Wushu Association, which made the national fitness campaign get wind and water. What I didn't expect was that we would become Yang Tai Ji Chuan's brother and sister ...

After intense study, the students "crossed the sea and showed their magical powers", and all kinds of academic associations and amateur associations let a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred birds compete for spring. Because I had a little fist fight from primary school, I was the first to sign up when I saw the school Wushu Association recruiting at the entrance of the canteen. Since then, the dining hall, the back of the cinema and the side of the sports field have become the training ground for several martial arts enthusiasts. A year later, I had the honor to take over the post of Chairman of Wushu Association from the 27th brother Li Xiaoming. Although I didn't do anything earth-shattering, I spent a lifetime in this big family of Wushu Association. We prepared for the general meeting of the Association. Li Xue, An Zhenghong, Liu Zhongchen, Yuan Xueli and Xu Genlin were all members of the preparatory group. Sui Yongqi, then president, was hired as honorary president. The Wushu invitational tournament for college students in Kazakhstan organized at the general meeting has gone down in history. For a time, guests gathered in the cinema and cheers filled the campus. Wulin colleagues are happy to meet, learn skills and spread their reputation.

Since ancient times, eating is the first of the seven things "rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea". Secondly, there will be the leisure of "painting, calligraphy, chess, poetry and hops". When you arrive in the northeast, you have to forget the taste of your hometown and face the northeast diet such as sorghum rice, stewed vermicelli with sauerkraut, pot-wrapped meat, fresh ground rice and roasted tofu. Although the eating habits are different, for me, it is not that the food tastes unaccustomed, but that the food is much more expensive than in middle school. I am cash-strapped, so I can only cover my pockets and live a hard life. Looking back now, I have to think about the next day after eating the last meal. I don't know how I came over.

The most memorable thing is the entrance education. During the whole period, more than 5 students gathered in the lecture hall No.8 to listen to the report of Vice President Wang Xiaoming. Only then did we realize that our alma mater was very famous in that year. There were 6 faculty members (academicians) and 5 doctoral supervisors, ranking fourth in medical colleges, but now only the former president Yang Baofeng is an academician. The campus area ranked second in the national medical colleges after West China Medical University. Due to the reform of colleges and universities, our alma mater has been adjusted from a subordinate college to a provincial college since we entered the school.

The first Spring Festival Gala in the class was held in the dormitory. Because the house was too small, the iron frame beds were demolished, and everyone performed a program or introduced themselves. The most difficult thing to understand was the fifth person in our dormitory. According to him, what Mr. Lu Xun said was exactly the same as his. Although I didn't remember everyone clearly at the first party, A Fire in Winter and the enthusiasm, simplicity and tolerance among my classmates warmed me and illuminated me, which made me feel inferior, timid and nervous and quickly adapted to the collective life and integrated with everyone.

an ice city deserves to be called an ice city. In winter, the trees are withered, the wind is biting, and the breath is frosty. The earth is covered with silver, dazzling and interesting. We have snowball fights, make snowmen and learn to skate ... Although southern students can't stand the cold in Harbin, I like it very much. Every time after the heavy snow, a thin layer of snow, like a huge, soft wool blanket, covers the whole earth. Standing in the white snow is like being in a legendary fairy tale world. Less than a month after we entered school, we didn't even know the southeast and northwest of Harbin, and we didn't have time to appreciate the scenery of Sun Island. The heavy snow came to our arms in a hurry, which surprised the southern students who had never seen snow. Suddenly I thought of a poem by Cen Can, a frontier poet in the Tang Dynasty: "the north wind rolls the white grasses and breaks them, and the Eighth-month snow across the Tartar sky. Is like a spring gale, come up in the night, blowing open the petals of ten thousand pear trees. " What a magical snow in August!

In the ice city, the most difficult thing is to learn to skate. It is fun and difficult to learn. I don't know how many times I fell, but fortunately I wore thick cotton-padded clothes and trousers, and it didn't hurt when I fell on the ice. The most uncomfortable thing is that the ankle is sore, the concentration drops, and the standing is unstable. At this time, it is easy to wrestle. I remember one time when I was in physical education class, I was retrograde on the runway, and as a result, I bumped into Shao Jing, a female speed skater who was training. If it weren't for Shao's handfuls of me in his arms, I would definitely hit my back. Therefore, Shao Jing is one of the few female students in the medical department who can remember her name.

in the ice city, the "Harbin Ice and Snow Festival" is unforgettable. Taking it from ice and using it in ice, Harbin people interpret ice and snow as a romantic, exquisite, ingenious and crystal-clear artistic wonder. Harbin Ice Lantern attracts thousands of tourists. During school, it is just in time for the opening of the first Ice and Snow Festival. Being close to the water, you will get the moon first. Being in a dreamy ice scene, you will be infected by the carved works of art.. Clever and wise ice sculpture masters can pour ice and snow with new ideas and give ice and snow life. In the coldest season in the ice city, we will proudly invite foreign students to Harbin to enjoy the art of ice lanterns and experience the scenery of the North.

After the winter in Ice City, we can't help but talk about the summer in Ice City. Although the summer time in Ice City is short, the climate is pleasant and colorful, and it is a good place to spend the summer. The beautiful Songhua River is like a ribbon, which adds infinite scenery to the city. Stalin Park stretches for more than ten miles, where tourists are woven and the shore is bright, which was a business card of Harbin in those days. Sun Island, a health resort surrounded by rivers, and the annual "Summer in Harbin" concert attracted Chinese and foreign singers and musicians to perform, which made Harbin win the reputation of "Northern Music City".

I will never forget the ice city or the swans flying with their wings. I love the ice city and the pearl embedded in the swan's neck. Harbin, the name transformed from the jurchen language "Alejin", contains the meaning of fame and honor, and the black land gives you deep eyes; Songhua River moistens your delicate heart.

Harbin, which I first met after listening to Zheng Xulan's On the Sun Island and Wang Gang's Harbin at Night, has now become my second hometown. I want to say, my alma mater is here, and my youth and thoughts are here. How can I forget it?
