Essay about being a volunteer

On July 6, 2013, our Dandelion team ushered in the 11th activity--subway service and being a volunteer for the Asian Youth League.

The team members made an appointment to gather at the Software Avenue subway station at 4:30 pm. With excitement, I came to Exit 1 early to wait. One after another, all the team members arrived, and my mother asked everyone to line up in a row, started giving us team signs, and asked us some questions, such as, "What is the purpose of our participation in the event this time?" "What are we going to do?" and so on. Finally, my mother summarized our content and gave some precautions, and we walked into the subway station in a neat queue. A subway staff member received us, introduced us to the relevant knowledge of the subway, and asked us to take some subway promotional signs as service tools. We also printed some promotional slogans ourselves to facilitate subway services. Next we started to act separately. Some team members held signs and stood at the entrance or exit of the subway, and kept reading the slogans on the signs, reminding passengers to "queue to buy tickets and travel in a civilized manner" and "queue in an orderly manner, get off first before getting on." Some team members were standing next to the automatic ticket vending machines. When they saw passengers who couldn't buy tickets, they took the initiative to help them. Some team members stood at the entrance card machine to help passengers who did not know how to enter the station and taught them how to put in the subway coins they purchased. We each completed our own tasks and felt that it was a very happy thing to help others. I also deeply realized that a love can exchange for a smile from others, which was very sweet in my heart. The Asian Youth Conference is coming soon, and taking the subway will be a mainstream thing, so serving the subway is also a volunteer for the Asian Youth Conference. Therefore, we feel that launching this small team activity is a very meaningful thing.

Brief comment: Being a volunteer is a very meaningful thing, and you can learn a lot during the process. I'm also eager to try it.
