What is positivism?

Positivism is a school of western philosophy, which emphasizes sensory experience and rejects metaphysical tradition. Also known as positive philosophy. It originated in France and Britain in 1930s and 40s of 19, and was put forward by A. Comte, a French philosopher and founder of sociology.

The basic characteristics of positivism: the task of philosophy comes down to the study of phenomena. From the phenomenological point of view, it refuses to grasp the sensory materials through rationality and thinks that scientific laws can be obtained through the induction of phenomena.
