How will the Yangtze River New Town be built?

1On the morning of July 7th, Wuhan held a press conference to announce the site selection scope of the Yangtze River New Town: north-central Wuhan, which will be built in three phases. The recent starting area is located in Chenjiaji-Wuhu block, with specific trends: from Wuhu Pumping Station River in the east, to the north bank of the Yangtze River in the south, to Qinshui River and Fuhe River in the west, to Zhang Gongdi Road in the southwest, and to Jiangbei Railway in the north, about 30 to 50 square kilometers. The medium-term development area is 100 square kilometers, and the remote control area is 500 square kilometers.

At this point, the site selection of the Yangtze River New Town has come to an end, and the next step will focus on planning and construction. The general idea is to adhere to the new development concept, adhere to the benchmark of xiong'an new area, adhere to the planning guidance, organize the preparation of new town planning with high standards and high quality, promote the development and construction of new towns in a planned and step-by-step manner, and create a display area representing the highest achievements of urban development and a demonstration area of future cities around the world. At present, Wuhan has set up an international design alliance to attract dozens of design companies around the world to jointly design the scheme.

The new city should take a new road. Specifically, the planning and construction of the Yangtze River New Town will focus on five major functions: "building an innovative city with high-efficiency and high-tech industries, building an eco-green river and lake city, building a modern smart city with a new generation of leading applications of information technology, building an international friendship city with a first-class level of openness and cooperation, and building a wealth-creating city where people live and work in peace and contentment".

According to the planning of Wuhan City, the Yangtze River New Town is by no means a gathering area dominated by traditional industries and real estate. Instead, it aims at the forefront, advances in layout, takes the development of new economy as the core, and takes scientific and technological innovation and institutional innovation as the engine to build a modern industrial system in which high-end manufacturing and producer services are integrated and developed, so as to create an efficient high-tech industrial gathering area and a new private economic gathering area.

The development of Yangtze River New Town will be based on talent-led innovation and innovation-driven development, focusing on attracting high-end high-tech enterprises, vigorously developing strategic emerging industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing, biotechnology, new energy, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, and next-generation information technology, developing modern service industries such as R&D design, finance and insurance, life and health, modern logistics and cultural creativity, and building a modern industrial system in which high-end manufacturing and producer services are integrated.

To this end, the Yangtze River New Town will rely on the beautiful natural environment to cultivate a number of innovative parks with beautiful ecological environment, intensive intellectual resources and distinctive scientific and technological characteristics, and accelerate the formation of a new development pattern of intensive elements, technological integration, enterprise agglomeration, industrial clusters and centralized services.
