Why is the first name called "top of the list"?

It is said that the Xihe tribe living in Tiantai Mountain on the coast of the East China Sea had very rich astronomical knowledge. They were the first to identify the Big Dipper and named the one farthest from the handle Kui. When his descendant Boyi became the leader of the tribe, he met Kuixing in Shimeng, Aotou, Fusang Mountain, and was inspired by him to write "The Classic of Mountains and Seas". Later generations respected Kuixing as the god of literary fortune, fame and fortune (red hair, blue face, crossed feet, holding an ink fountain and a red pen, standing on Aotou), and built Kuixian Pavilion behind Aotou Stone in Tiantai Mountain (the ruins still exist) . According to this allusion, since the Tang Dynasty, candidates have always let the number one scholar stand on the top of the list when they are waiting for the results. This is called "Kixing Dou Dou, dominate the top", which means occupying the first place or first place. Since then, candidates and dignitaries from all over the country have come to Kuixian Pavilion to offer incense, and there has been an endless stream of people coming to Aotou Stone to make wishes. Kuixing also seemed to care particularly about the students in Rizhao. In the three generations of Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties alone, there were four number one scholars. As for the Ding and Qin families at the foot of the mountain, there are countless Jinshi and high-ranking officials, and they even trained Ding Zhaozhong, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics.

Quixing is the four stars forming a bucket shape among the Big Dipper. One is said to be the star farthest from the handle. One of the twenty-eight constellations, it is the first of the seven constellations of the White Tiger in the West. It was called the god in charge of cultural fortune by the ancients. Gu Yanwu, a scholar of the Qing Dynasty, said in "Records of the Sun": "I don't know when Kuixing was worshiped by people today. Kui is regarded as the home of articles. Therefore, temples are built to worship it. It cannot resemble Kui and change Kui to Kui." Jierkuixing is imaged as a red-haired and blue-faced ghost, standing on a turtle's head, with his feet raised, holding a cup and holding a pen. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, dragons and Ao were carved on the stone slab in the middle of the steps in the main hall of the palace. Those who passed the examination stood at the foot of the stairs to welcome the candidates, while the top scholar stood at the top, so it was called "topping the list."
