"Welcome to Maile Village" premiered on Hunan Satellite TV, Dragon TV and Jiangsu Satellite TV, and was broadcast simultaneously by Youku, Migu Video and Mango TV.

The play tells the story of China's foreign aid medical team, represented by Ma Jia, Jiang, Wu Mei and others, saving lives in Africa and establishing profound friendship with local people. Ma Jia, a doctor from the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangda University, joined the 25th batch of foreign aid medical teams in Yuanjiang Province and went to Sana 'a, Africa when her work and marriage were frustrated.

Facing the completely different environment and huge cultural differences between China and Africa, Ma Jia overcame practical difficulties step by step between persistence and abandonment, and adjusted and corrected her mentality step by step. In practice, she gradually understood her responsibilities and mission as a medical worker in China.

After two years of foreign aid, Ma Jia and the partners of the foreign aid medical team were stationed in "Maile Village", which experienced happiness and touching, reunion and parting, and complicated feelings of growth. They used superb medical skills to alleviate the suffering of the African people, and also established deep friendship with many African doctors and patients.

Africa, a magical fertile land and friendly African people, has also brought valuable enlightenment to foreign aid doctors in China about their hearts and lives. On the way home, Ma Jia and his companions really understood the meaning of "Maile Village" and deeply realized that what they left here was a touching memory worth cherishing all their lives.

Creation background

2023 is the 60th anniversary of China's foreign medical assistance. Over the past 60 years, China's foreign aid medical team has been tested and honed, and has written a touching story and a song of China-Africa friendship. The original intention of the play is to draw the hearts of Chinese and African audiences closer through laughter and tears, and to encourage more young China medical workers to join the foreign aid medical career.

As a key play to commemorate the 60th anniversary of China's medical aid to foreign countries, the drama was attended and escorted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Health Commission, the TV drama department and international department of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio, Film and Television.

The drama's creators comprehensively selected the real stories of more than 30 African medical teams aided by China provinces and cities such as Mali, Tanzania, Senegal and Sierra Leone, and referred to the stories of China businessmen to construct the main characters and story context.
