Is the Tianan Bridge of any special significance?

The most striking feature of the two bridge heads of Tianan Bridge is that four giant sculptures will be placed. They are the four great beasts in ancient China, namely, Qinglong, Baihu, Suzaku and Xuanwu, which are controlled by Huangdi, Xiwangmu, Nuwa and Yan Di from ancient mythology respectively, praying for good weather on both sides of Jinjiang River.

Its designer is Professor Liu Yi, master tutor of Xiamen Arts and Crafts College of Fuzhou University. It is reported that Professor Liu Yi has a close relationship with Quanzhou. As early as 2007, he designed and produced a large-scale group sculpture "Chest Beating Dance" for Quanzhou.

These sculptures are made of copper and then covered with gold foil. They are 6 meters high, 8 meters long and 5.5 meters wide. Although they are hollow, each sculpture and its base weigh 25 tons. According to reports, such a large number of sculptures are rare in Chinese bridge decoration sculptures.

When you got off the truck, you invited a crane with a load of 130 tons to help you. It takes a week to assemble these sculptures on sunny days.

Professor Liu Yi, the creator of the sculpture and master tutor of Xiamen Arts and Crafts College of Fuzhou University, said that the four sculptures took three years from planning to creation, which means "good weather".
