Hefei also has an accent, but Hefei is Mandarin, which sounds similar to Mandarin. Plus Hefei has a large immigrant population and everyone speaks Mandarin. For a foreigner, the first impression is that there is a barrier and it is difficult to integrate.

Then the urban infrastructure is not very good. Although Nanchang is a southern city with mountains and rivers, the appearance of the city is really not refined enough. The roads outside Nanchang Station have been under construction in the past few years since I came here. They are either traffic jams or dusty. The road conditions in the old city are not very good either. Honggutan in the new district is okay, but when I first came here, not all Wanda stores in Honggutan were open. There are not many other shopping malls, and there are no high-end products. The largest luxury jewelry store is MK? I think having water and rivers in the city is very helpful for urban planning. Having water makes the city feel spiritual, but Nanchang’s planning is obviously not enough.

Transportation. It's been my fourth year here and I haven't had a single fight. The only time I took a taxi was when I was catching a train. Another taxi driver pushed me to the taxi driver at the door. However, the taxi driver didn't give me a meter and negotiated the price directly. On the way, the driver saw me and asked me for an extra twenty yuan. You can drive on the bridge faster. I didn't agree. He loaded another mother and son halfway. Because the school was so remote, I basically took the bus or a private car when I went out. Later, when the subway became available, I could take a private car to the subway station. As far as my experience of taking buses and unlicensed cars, including Didi, Nanchang drivers are really wild when driving. There were various lane changes and traffic jams, and the same was true for public car drivers, who cursed in dialect while driving. Moreover, at the exits of Nanchang Station and high-speed rail stations, there are unlicensed car drivers soliciting passengers every time, and the stations do not regulate them. It can easily have a negative impact on many first-timers. There are also people soliciting passengers at Hefei Station, but they are not allowed to enter or exit the station. They can only be outside the train station. Private cars are not allowed to stay at the station.

The food is quite to my liking. I love spicy food. However, I don’t think Nanchang mixed noodles are very delicious. They are not as delicious as noodles from other places in Jiangxi. I ate noodles in Changsha and thought they were more delicious. There are many local fly restaurants in Nanchang, which are very delicious. As for the climate, it is really hot in summer. Although the wind is very strong in winter, for people who grew up in the Jianghuai area, the temperature in winter is not that cold and rarely goes below zero.

There is nothing to say about entertainment, it is similar to other non-tourist cities. I’ve been to some of the scenic spots a few times and it’s pretty good, but I haven’t been to Tengwang Pavilion yet. But every time I go out on weekends, I can feel that Nanchang people love to go out too much. Every time I go to Honggutan Wanda, there are so many people. I feel that there are more people going to Wanda on weekends than in Hefei for the holidays. It feels like they all come out to spend money. , and the prices are not cheap either. The snacks in Wanda Golden Street, including Causeway Bay, are more expensive than those in Hefei. Chicken steak starts at 15 yuan, while Hefei’s 10 yuan or more is 12 yuan. The cheapest milk tea is Coco. You can’t even find it in Mixue Bingcheng. Every time I go out to drink water, I have to pay a lot of money for it (I’m just giving these two examples). I feel that any Internet celebrity store that opens in Nanchang will definitely be able to do it. Make money.

Then there is education and development potential. Although Nanchang is a second-tier city, Nanchang's ability to retain talents is too weak. Although Jiangxi has the Yangtze River Delta to the north and the Pearl River Delta to the south, Nanchang's weak cohesion has caused an outflow of people from the province, as it is difficult to move north and south because of the mountainous terrain. In addition, there are no better universities in Nanchang. The best universities are Nanchang University with an average ranking, and the University of Finance and Economics, which is more professional. It is difficult to rely on these two schools to retain talents in Nanchang. Reports are basically made to prefecture-level cities within the province and surrounding areas. Most of the students who are good at studying in Jiangxi Province have left the province. The quality of students they recruit is limited and they cannot be retained. In addition, housing prices have also risen a lot, which is not friendly to future urban development.

First of all, let’s talk about Nanchang dialect. Some people say that Nanchang dialect is “very fierce”. This is completely a misunderstanding. People in Nanchang speak louder, but Nanchang is not the only place where people speak loudly. Don’t people in Changsha speak loudly? Don’t people in Wuhan speak loudly? Why am I so attracted by the loud voices of Nanchang people? Nanchang dialect is one of the eight major dialects in China. Its pronunciation and language have unique characteristics. Nanchang dialect retains a large number of ancient Chinese pronunciations, most of which are Tang and Song pronunciations; it also retains a large number of early vernacular words. With the passage of time, Nanchang dialect (Nanchang urban dialect) has also undergone great changes. The Nanchang dialect of my father's generation is actually very nice to listen to. The sound is not loud and very soft, and the final sound is lingering. It can be said that the current Nanchang dialect is mixed with a large number of Nanchang suburban accents, and the real old Nanchang dialect can no longer be heard.

Let’s talk about Nanchang people again. Nanchang people have the delicacy of southerners and the generosity of northerners. When guests from other places come, Nanchang people will definitely show their hospitable nature.

It is a fact that Nanchang cannot retain talents, and I admit it. Why can’t we retain talent? The main reason is that Nanchang does not have a platform for talents to display their talents. Therefore, capable people in Nanchang generally go to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities where they can display their talents. This is a big problem plaguing Nanchang talents.

Nanchang is a heroic city with a glorious revolutionary tradition. The first shot against the Kuomintang reactionaries was fired on August 1, 1927. From then on, the Communist Party of China had its own army, using only He seized power in 22 years.

There is nothing to complain about. However, Nanchang City has indeed not done enough to preserve cultural relics. Especially in the 1980s, Nanchang City carried out large-scale demolition and construction projects, demolishing many remains of ancient dwellings worth preserving. The reconstruction of Shengli Road did not achieve the expected purpose. These are all Pity. Fortunately, Nanchang is rebuilding the Nanchang Wanshou Palace, which was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, and rebuilding some imitation Ming and Qing buildings around the Wanshou Palace. A large number of shantytowns are also being renovated. Now Nanchang City's Dieshan Road and Xiangshan Road are undergoing large-scale reconstruction, and the congestion is temporary. I believe that after the completion of these projects, Nanchang City will show a new look to the people of the country.

As the capital city of Jiangxi Province, Nanchang is indeed relatively introverted and not open to the outside world. In the 1970s, I often traveled to other provinces on business. When I arrived in northern cities, people asked me where I was from. Speaking of being from Nanchang, many northerners don't know which province Nanchang is in. As long as they say "You know the Nanchang August 1st Uprising, right?" then they will suddenly realize, "Oh, it is Nanchang Province", hahahaha.

Speaking of Nanchang’s economic development, it is indeed not as good as that of several surrounding provincial capitals. In the 1980s, slogans "Learn from Jiangxi" could be seen in several counties and cities in Hunan bordering Jiangxi, but now Nanchang City lags far behind Changsha. We should "learn from Hunan".

But Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, is not without its merits. Nanchang has the advantage of green mountains and green waters. There is the largest freshwater lake in the country - Poyang Lake.
