In the 1980s, Route 29 was put into operation (production base station of software park → Xiamen University Station).

2011From February 28th to March 30th, due to the hoisting construction of the steel box girder of Baicheng Bridge, the main road around the island (from Zenglu to Xiamen University), in order to ensure safety, the University Road (towards Yanwu Road) was closed in one direction. Bus No.29 adjustment scheme involves: bypassing Yanwu Bridge from Huandao Road to Yanwu Road and stopping at Xiamen University Hospital Station. The direction from Yanwu Road to Daxue Road remains unchanged.
