Wangjiang-Love Story Behind Chengdu's Ancient Landmark

After Father Island, Wangjiang Island, another urban renewal project of Chivalrous Island, officially landed. Coincidentally, like my father, there is a romantic love story behind the place name Wangjiang.

There is a couplet circulating in Wangjianglou near Jinjiang. "The first link: the ancient well is cold and the sun sets. Ask a few loquacious people. Where is the school gate lane? " Bottom line: The great river bends over the threshold and occupies the smoke on the first floor. The thatched cottage of the Ministry of Industry should be divided equally. "Du Fu's thatched cottage is the cultural sustenance of Chengdu people for thousands of years, and the school book that will be equally divided with him in the couplet is the poetess Xue Tao who endowed the legend of Wangjianglou. In the Tang Dynasty, Xue Tao, who lived in Huanhuaxi, met Yuan Zhen, a poet ten years younger than her. From then on, she became friends, lived in harmony with poetry and music and traveled around the world. However, only four months later, Yuan Zhen received an order to go to Luoyang, and they said goodbye at the Jinjiang River.

After parting, Xue Tao made a note from Xue Tao with a stream, telling Yuan Zhen what he was saying, "Every flower has its own reward, and every flower has its own sorrow. If you want to ask acacia, when flowers bloom and fall. " Entrusting the feeling of acacia, Yuan Zhen also wrote, "Don't miss acacia, and cattail flowers are five clouds high." But he never returned to Chengdu, which made Xue Tao regret for life. Later generations built Wangjiang Tower in Xue Tao to commemorate the poet. According to legend, a famous person later visited Chengdu to remember Xue Tao, climbed the top floor of Wangjiang Tower and felt a lot when he looked up, so he couldn't help singing the eternal swan song "Wangjiang Tower, Wangjiang River, Wangjiang River". In Lianzhong, the "Jianglou is eternal" refers to Wangjianglou, which is famous for Xue Tao. Wangjiang No.1 Middle School came from this and has been integrated into the streets of Chengdu since then. Over the years, many place names have also been named after Wangjiang, including Wangjiang Road, Wangjiang Campus of Sichuan University, and Wangjiang Island (Qunyi Business Building), which is about to open.

Wangjiang Island (Qunyi Business Building) is located at the junction of Guojiaqiao West Street and Second Ring Road not far from Wangjiang Road. Like the nearby Guojiaqiao plate, it has experienced 20 years of wind and rain baptism, but adjacent to Sichuan University, lush students make this area full of vitality. However, mottled exterior walls and outdated decoration have made Qunyi Business Building no longer meet the needs of today's office and aesthetics. At the same time, in order to match its superior geographical location and excellent transportation facilities, Xiake Island, the city investment, has re-planned its buildings, upgraded its decoration and property level, and introduced the smart service system of the office town. While improving building services, it also tries to improve the regional economy and make the ancient Guojiaqiao glow with new growth momentum. Wangjiang Island is expected to reappear in February 2020.
