Flowers are flying everywhere (flowers are flying everywhere, flowers are flying everywhere)
In the first sentence of the poem Burying Flowers, some versions are "Flowers bloom and flowers fall all over the sky" and others are "Flowers bloom and flowers fall all over the sky", so there is a difference between "Flowers fall all over the sky" and "Flying all over the sky". Why are the words in the poem different? There is only one word difference between these two poems. Is there any difference in art? If so, which sentence is better? I don't want to sell myself short here, but I just want to share my humble opinion with you, so as to get the opportunity to learn from you when reading the poems of A Dream of Red Mansions.
1982, A Dream of Red Mansions was published by People's Literature Publishing House, and it was proofread by the Dream of Red Mansions Institute of Chinese Academy of Art, which read "Flowers bloom and flowers fall all over the sky", and this poem was written as "Flowers bloom and flowers fall all over the sky" according to A Dream of Red Mansions edited and published by Cheng Yiben.
Cai Yijiang's comments on the poems, songs and poems in A Dream of Red Mansions, also called "Flowers bloom everywhere", are annotated in the book:
Flying all over the sky: Chen Geng originally wrote "flowers all over the sky", but after careful reading, the word "flowers" was later changed; The original text is two dots, meaning the same as the last word "fly". So, from JOE and Xu Qi.
This shows that, in fact, not only the JOE version and the Xu Qi version are full of flowers, but also the Chen Geng version should be full of flowers. It's not that the fat review is "a hundred flowers blossom", but that Cheng Gaoben is "a hundred flowers blossom". Who was the post-reviser of Geng Chenben? Cai Yijiang didn't say it, and I naturally don't know. In the book, he didn't say that "flowers are flying all over the sky" was not good, but changed this sentence to "flowers are flying all over the sky" according to Jia Xu and Qi in the book, which not only showed his respect for the manuscript of A Dream of Red Mansions, but also showed that he preferred the poem "flowers are flying all over the sky". But in my opinion, this later reviser changed the word "two dots" of the word "flying" to the word "flowers", so the poem changed from the original "flowers flying all over the sky" to "flowers flying all over the sky". Perhaps he is not very clever in character recognition, but I think it is a very artistic move, which naturally makes people admire his artistic perception and certain artistic creation ability.
If we carefully taste and ponder, especially in terms of artistry, the author thinks that there is still a certain difference between "full of flowers" and "full of flowers", that is, "full of flowers" is higher than "full of flowers". The reasons are as follows!
If the poem describes things vividly, "flowers wither and flowers fly all over the sky" and "fly" are verbs, which emphasize the dynamics of the falling of spring flowers and describe the scene of flowers withering and petals flying all over the sky. There is a dynamic narrative, but the vividness itself is not strong and it is not easy for people to trigger more artistic associations. Although the meaning of "flowers flying all over the sky" is not much different from that of "flowers flying all over the sky", "flowers" is a noun, which refers to the flowers themselves and is an image. Therefore, the general dynamic description of "flying" has become an image, which has a strong image in itself. The image of falling flowers can be highlighted, and the image of poetry is stronger.
As far as the word structure logic of the poem is concerned, in the poem "Flowers flying all over the sky", "Flower flying" consists of two small subject-predicate structural phrases, while "Flying all over the sky" only takes care of "Flower flying" but not "Flower Xie", so the word "Xie" of "Flower Xie" has not landed and appears in the sentence. However, "flowers are flying all over the sky" makes poetry consistent, and there is no problem of poor care before and after. Moreover, words such as "flowers fade", "flowers fly" and "flowers all over the sky" are subject-predicate structures, all of which are talking about "flowers" themselves, highlighting the image of "flowers", with coherent meanings and without any gap.
If we look at the causality of things again, we also think that "letting a hundred flowers blossom" is more complete, accurate and precise than "letting a hundred flowers blossom". It is the cause of things, but it is the result of things. It is precisely because of flowers that flowers fly first, and flowers will fly all over the sky. It is very natural and logical for readers to understand the meaning of this poem at once. Let's look at "Flowers bloom and fall, flowers fly all over the sky". Although we can also understand it as the result of "flying all over the sky" caused by "flowers blooming and falling", the poem emphasizes "flying", which is a supplement to the verb "flying all over the sky", so this result is far less natural, smooth and imaginative than "flying all over the sky".
If we pay more attention to the aesthetic feeling formed by the arrangement of words in poetry, it is also that the word formation method of "Flowers are flying all over the sky" in the poem "Flowers are flying all over the sky" is different from that of "Flowers are flying all over the sky". "Flower Xie Hua Fei" is a combination of "Flower Xie" and "Flower Fei", both of which are subject-predicate phrases, and "Xie" and "Fei" are flowers. However, the appearance of "flying all over the sky" has caused the inconsistency in the poem, because "flying all over the sky" is a verb and a predicate, and "flying all over the sky" has become the complement of "flying". Obviously, the arrangement and combination of the whole poem is not harmonious enough, and the aesthetic feeling will naturally be discounted. And "a hundred flowers blossom" is a sentence composed of three phrases, which has a subject-predicate structure. The word "flower" is arranged neatly and appears in turn, and the form is very beautiful. As the predicate of "flower", "sky" is arranged with the previous "thank you" and "fly", showing the beauty of change and the sense of agility.
In terms of saving words in poetry, the author thinks that "flowers bloom all over the sky" is better than "flowers bloom all over the sky" There is already a word "fly" in Hua Xie Hua Fei, and then there is another word "fly" in Flying All over the Sky, which leads to the repetition of words, which is unnecessary because the amount of information in the poem has not increased. However, the words "flowers bloom everywhere" and "fly" only appear once, and the language is extremely concise without any redundancy, but the information is still very large. Especially in Flowers Fade and Flowers Fly All over the Sky, the word "flowers" appears three times, which not only has no sense of verbosity and repetition, but also repeats with the words here, forming a positive rhetoric in language, which not only creates the aesthetic feeling of word arrangement and combination, but also achieves the sad style of poetic language, further setting off the sad mood of the lyric protagonist Lin Daiyu.
In the comments on poems, songs and poems in A Dream of Red Mansions, Cai Yijiang thinks that "flowers are flying all over the sky, and the red fragrance is broken." Perhaps it was inspired by Li He's "Spring flies with fragrance all over the sky", which is very insightful. In the poem "Flying all over the sky in spring", Li He is also the reason of "flying all over the sky" in the first half sentence and the result of "full of Tian Chun" in the second half sentence. The poems of "Flowers bloom and flowers fall all over the sky" and "Flowers bloom and flowers fall all over the sky" in Lin Daiyu's "Burying Flowers" give people the impression that "Flowers bloom and flowers fall all over the sky" is closer to Li He's "Flowers fly all over the sky in spring". Li He's poems are similar to "Spring is full of fragrance", and there are famous sentences in March, which is also the reason for writing the first half and the result of writing the second half. These may also be an indirect reason why we say that "flowers bloom all over the sky" is better than "flowers bloom all over the sky". Aside from the comparison between the two words "flowers bloom all over the sky" and "flowers bloom all over the sky", we can also see that Cao Xueqin deliberately inherited the wording of Li He's poems when he wrote poems for Lin Daiyu in A Dream of Red Mansions.
