How to make simple plant specimens?

Taking the leaf specimen of Platycladus orientalis in Yunnan as an example,

Step 1: Cut off a branch of Yunnan cypress with good shape and color.

Do you think it is dirty and ugly? How can it be called "Jia" So there is the second step.

Step 2: Carefully clean the leaves with a cotton swab or toilet paper.

When cleaning the leaves, pay attention to stabilizing the specimens. Don't tear the specimen because of excessive action. Feel the texture and growth direction of the specimen.

Step 3: Take out your biggest and thickest book.

Step 4: Take the middle position of the book, spread absorbent paper (thin paper) and put the clean branches and leaves of Yunnan Park on it.

Step 5: Arrange the specimen morphology. Don't just close the book and start pressing it. See the prominent part of the leaves in the picture below? Gently press along the growth direction of the branches and leaves, because the branches and leaves are still soft and can be flattened, which feels like flattening a curved straw, so that the branches and leaves will not be broken or folded because of sudden pressure when the book is closed for a while. The so-called "homeopathy" simply means not to press the long one on the left to the right and the long one on the bottom to the top, which is unnatural and easy to hurt plants.

Step 6: Cover the plants with absorbent paper (tissue paper), feel the direction of plant branches and leaves with your fingers again, and flatten the plants.

Then you will find that the hard fruit in the middle can't be solved. If you don't take it off, because it's too thick, the leaves below can't be pressed at all. Please see the next step:

Step 7: Pick the fruit that is too hard and too big (it will be more natural to directly press the small and soft fruit with leaves) and collect it. When cutting, pay attention to choose a position that is not easy to be noticed, so that you can stick it later. Of course, you can also take the fruit down and put it aside, and don't stick it back in place, depending on your personal aesthetic preferences.

Take the fruit away, mark it, wrap it and store it. When storing fruit, be careful not to break the twigs on the fruit. Because at this time, the hard fruits in Yunnan Park don't need to be dried without water in winter. Please replace them with other berries or fruits with more water, and then save them after natural air drying.

There is no order of fruit interception. You can choose before pressing, or you can arrange the shape before choosing. I took the above steps purely out of personal habit, and also to ensure that the direction of some branches intercepted is consistent with the specimen.

Step 9: You can cover the plants with absorbent paper (tissue paper), close the book and start pressing hard.

Step 10: Wait quietly. Deciduous plants in Yunnan have less moisture in autumn and winter, so there is no need to change absorbent paper. This method of weighing is only suitable for plants with thick branches and leaves that are difficult to correct, so it is not so complicated to make single plant specimens such as willow leaves and petals.
