I just finished reading The Bookstore on the Island recently. At first, I thought I wouldn't write a review on a simple inspirational novel, but I finally found that the novel was not that simple. when I read the first three chapters, I only felt that the plot at the beginning of the book was too depressed, and the bookstore owner's morbid picky reflected cynicism incisively and vividly, just like his attitude towards the world when he was in a bad mood. When I read it, I only felt that I was streaking in the book, but I knew I was ashamed, but I couldn't find anything to hide it from, so I could only read it crazily, so as not to hear the ridicule from the passing words until Maya appeared. This seems to be a switch. Since then, the boss has gradually melted away from a drunk who stepped into a trough and lost his pursuit of self-abandonment. His love for little Maya has made him busy every day, but he is also unspeakable happy. At this point, I thought that this book was just an inspirational story, looking for the meaning of life that everyone chewed but couldn't chew, so I thought that if something went wrong in the future, I might turn it over again. But after reading it, what I can't get over most is the author's explanation and thinking about the book and love, and the unpleasant but beautiful ending.

In my opinion, people who have read several books are generally more melodramatic, at least from the plot of the book. The first reason is that I really don't want to spoil it. When I return to this book, I always feel that it is too short for the boss to accept the world and really enjoy the beautiful life after coming out of the previous isolation and loneliness, and he did not wait until Maya really became a writer and realized his dream for many years. I think this should be the same as many other readers' feelings, but at least I have some hope for the bookstore to continue. While expressing deep regret, I also suggest that I should take it as the reality in the story and accept this reality. In fact, no one can really predict my life span and achievements. When we were young, we were still making comparisons in the same period. Look at how well their children study, and then look at who on TV has achieved so much when they are the same age. However, if I am a short-lived ghost and know my end date early, then I can't focus on the word contemporaneity; On the contrary, if I live a long life, I will hit a wall everywhere when I was young, and finally I will achieve a goal of * * * when all my peers are buried, or I will enjoy my life. The generation gap with the younger generation is too deep and I can only tell the grave every day, and I will be lonely to death if I think about it. But in the end, it seems that when people are young, they really should make appropriate comparisons to stimulate their growth. But at a certain age, it's time to let go of the past and concentrate on doing a few things, like A.J. who loves everything in his heart, or just run a small bookstore because he likes it.

And I don't want anyone to give up halfway when reading this book, because it may make people very painful at the beginning, and you can't enjoy it if you read half of it. In fact, it doesn't matter whether you know this book or not. This is a plain novel, and the plot is not brilliant, but it always gives people a budding power, but it is not strong, so some people hate it and others like it. Life is only a few decades, and there are many things to be busy with. There is no need to waste energy on a meaningless argument. But at least, everyone should have a spiritual habitat like the bookstore on the island. When they are tired, they will not die.
