This lesson mainly introduces four ways of dialogue description.

The first type: action, expression+dialogue

"Five pieces of brown rice: three pieces of grain." Mr. Mihang answered them weakly.

Many people will only say what you say, what I say and what he says when describing a conversation. They just express what the speaker said, which makes it look boring.

The above two examples are all in the description of the dialogue. People add the demeanor and movements of the characters to make the dialogue more vivid, more infectious and less dry.

The second type: judge the relationship between characters by tone.

The above two examples are based on language characteristics, which is the most difficult. Dialogue is very important to novels.

Dialogue will only appear if it is useful for the plot, but it will not appear if it is useless. Many people's novels are dialogues, so they are not novels.

The third type: write a dialogue by labeling people.

So which way should we choose to write dialogue in novel creation?

Generally speaking, the first method is commonly used in novels, and the second method is also a choice, but it is more difficult. The third way is the most commonly used dialogue way for junior authors, which is not easy to be confused.

We often say that stories and novels should pay attention to details, and the so-called details are descriptions. In the process of writing dialogue, we must pay attention to unnecessary nonsense. Everything the characters say is to promote the story.

The fourth kind: use character dialogue to express character.

The three people in this article can know who is what through dialogue. The teacher is furious, introverted and aggressive at the same table.

The above two cases are all about shaping characters' personalities through language features, which are most commonly used in novels. It is a skill that novels must learn.

How to focus on the fourth and the first?

If the dialogue is to promote the plot, choose the first one, if the dialogue is to shape the characters, choose the last one.

If you write dialogues in your novel in the first and fourth ways, no one will say that your novel lacks details.

What you get on paper is so shallow that you never know what you have to do. Mastering theory is the key to practice. In the future novel practice, we must always remember to apply the methods taught in the course to dialogue description.
