But before long, the student was caught stealing again. Everyone thought his old habits were hard to change and demanded severe punishment, but Pan Sishi didn't punish him. Other students refused to accept it and jointly wrote that if this person was not punished, he would leave collectively.

Pan Jue read their joint book, then called all his students to him and said, "I'm glad you can tell right from wrong." You are my student. If you think what I taught you is wrong, you can go somewhere else, but I can't ignore the student who stole things, because he still can't tell right from wrong. If I don't teach him, who will? So, in any case, even if you all leave me, I can't let him leave, because he needs my teaching. "

When the thief listened to the words of Zen master Pansi, he was moved to tears and his heart was purified. He never stole from others again.
