Should I buy carbon steel or aluminum alloy for mobile phone bracket?

After proper heat treatment or cold drawing hardening, high carbon steel has higher strength and hardness, higher elastic limit and fatigue limit (especially notch fatigue limit), and its machinability is acceptable, but its weldability and cold plastic deformation ability are poor. Because of the high carbon content, cracks are easy to occur when water quenching, so double liquid quenching (water quenching+oil cooling) is often used, and oil quenching is often used for small cross-section parts. Generally, this kind of steel is tempered or normalized at medium temperature after quenching, or used in surface quenching state.

Aluminum alloy has low density, but its strength is relatively high, close to or higher than that of high-quality steel. Good plasticity, can be processed into various profiles, and has excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in industry, second only to steel. Some aluminum alloys can obtain good mechanical properties, physical properties and corrosion resistance through heat treatment.

Each has its advantages and disadvantages, depending on the situation.
