Why is it so difficult to make a plaster model?

There are many reasons. Let me tell you the most important ones:

1, your mold is not elastic! If you use a mold as elastic as a rubber band to make a plaster statue, it will be very easy.

2. It may also be that the gypsum powder you use is not hard enough, and it is still soft after solidification, and it is easy to break when demoulding.

3, or the gypsum powder itself is fine and the hardness is ok, but the gypsum slurry you mixed is too thin, so the hardness is low.

In view of the above reasons, the solution is as follows:

1, where it is not easy to demould, pour it with hot water every time to make it soft and easy to demould. (trouble! But there is no way! There are too few molds on the market now. )

2. Buy gypsum powder with high hardness. You can go to the building materials market to find a plaster line to buy. Remember not to buy it as sticky powder.

3. Grasp the water-powder ratio, 1: 1.5 (weight ratio). When the ratio of water to powder is properly reduced, the hardness of the slurry after curing is quite good.
