Why are the traditional customs in Chaoshan area preserved so well?

Born in Chaoshan, I have always lived in a traditional village, so I have my own views on Chaoshan tradition.

I think the first thing is the unique language habits in Chaoshan area. Although Chaoshan people can go to Guangzhou, Shenzhen or other places to integrate into the living atmosphere there, it is actually more difficult for many foreigners to integrate into the Chaoshan environment. Many people don't understand Chaoshan dialect, because it is a primitive language, which is very different from Mandarin. If you marry a Chaoshan person, you will speak Chaoshan dialect when you have children.

Secondly, the Chaoshan area does not develop industry like the Pearl River Delta, and there are so many migrants. Many enterprises in Chaoshan area are willing to use local people or relatives. Moreover, the scale of enterprises is generally small, and occasionally there are some outsiders, and they have not formed a certain scale.

Third, the villages in Chaoshan area are still dominated by clans. The same village has the same surname, and generations have been here, so everyone's respect for traditional customs is engraved in their bones, and so are the people around them. Everyone's living habits, words and things are similar.

For example, a Chaoshan boy was given different colors by the ceremony from birth. For example, when they worship God in the New Year, they should be given a special position to participate in clan affairs.

Finally, the geographical location of Chaoshan area, located in the northeast of Guangdong Province, has the feeling of "the tail of the province". Separated by a mountainous area in Meizhou, it is naturally different from the Pearl River Delta region and forms its own school. Many times, the culture is biased towards southern Fujian, but it has its own characteristics.
