Kayak is a general term, right? Then what is kayak and what is rowing?

kayaking is divided into kayaking and rowing.

There are two kinds of boats for the competition: rowing boats and kayaks. The main difference between the two kinds of racing boats lies in the position of the paddlers and the types of paddles used.

The rowing boat is an open boat, and the rower paddles with a single paddle in the position with bent knees. Each rowing boat can take one or two rowers (C1 or C2), and rowers are limited to men.

Kayak is a closed boat, in which players sit and paddle, and control the hull by manipulating a mechanical rudder with their feet. The paddles used have paddles at both ends. Kayak can take one, two or four riders (K1,K2 and K4). There are men's kayak races and women's kayak races in the Olympic Games.

Kayak originated from a small boat made by Eskimos in Greenland. This kind of boat has whale skins and otters wrapped on a skeleton and paddled with paddles at both ends. Rowing originated in Canada, so it is also called Canadian rowing. In fact, both of these boats evolved from canoes, so some countries and regions in Southeast Asia, such as Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Hong Kong and Macao, call kayaking canoes.

Rowing and kayaking are divided into two categories: speed race and slalom race. The speed race is held in still waters, while the jet slalom race is held in moving waters.
