"I am the only one in heaven and under heaven"
"I am the only one in heaven and on earth. All three realms are suffering, and I must be at peace with them."
On the 8th day of the fourth lunar month more than 3,000 years ago, Lady Maya was in the Lumbini Garden. Caressing the new branches of the Ashoka tree, the World Honored One was born from his wife's right side. After birth, he walked seven steps in the east, west, south, and north directions. Every time he took a step, precious lotuses appeared on the ground to hold the Buddha's feet. The World Honored One pointed to the sky and the other to the earth and said: "I am the only one in heaven and under the world. All three realms are suffering. I will be at peace with you." The human and heavenly teachers came to Saha. The World Honored One lived in the world for forty-nine years and preached the Dharma. The sound of the Dharma spread and transformed everything, guiding all sentient beings on the path to light and liberation, and bringing great peace and happiness to all sentient beings. The Buddha lived in the world, just like the Buddha. He is a beacon of light in the dark night, a boat sailing in the vast sea, a mentor in the hearts of all sentient beings, and a loving father in all lives. The World-Honored One said when he was born: "I am the only one in heaven and under heaven." In terms of things, whether compared with the gods in heaven or the humans, immortals, ghosts, animals, etc. in the world, Buddha is the most noble, and he is the most noble one in the world. Respected by all living beings. From a theoretical point of view, this sentence clearly shows that everyone has the inherent Buddha nature, which is immortal and immortal, exists from ancient to modern times, and has boundless magical powers. Therefore, this thought is the most noble and noble. "I" refers to the self-sufficient, spiritual and clear nature of all sentient beings, which does not arise or die. It is the great self, the true self, the selfless self, and the self that all sentient beings mistakenly recognize as the five yin and four elements. , is a false self, false and unreal. The pure awareness of this thought does not increase in the sage and does not decrease in the ordinary. As the Sixth Patriarch said: "Whenever the self-nature is inherently pure; when when the self-nature is inherently non-existent; when when the self-nature is inherently self-sufficient; when when the self-nature is inherently unshakable; when when the self-nature is capable of birth "The Avatamsaka Sutra" says: "The mind, the Buddha, and all living beings are the same." The mind of an ordinary person is the same as that of the Buddhas of the ten directions, but because all living beings are confused, this thought is covered by ignorance. Delusions and worries cover up the pure nature, so there is a difference between mortals and saints. Master Bodhidharma said: "I firmly believe that all life has the same true nature, but it is covered by the delusions of the world and cannot be revealed." This mindfulness is self-sufficient; it is neither born from parents nor obtained through practice, and it will not be caused by impermanence. It is damaged by old age and death, and does not increase or decrease due to ordinary saints, so it is true. As long as you can think clearly and keep the mind that can know and be aware of at the moment, and do not continue ignorant and delusional thoughts, you can be free from dust and defilement, and transcend directly into the Tathagata. land. Therefore, the Buddha nature inherent in everyone is the most noble and noble in the world. The world we live in now is called the Saha world. The Saha world is divided into three realms: the desire realm, the color realm, and the colorless realm. Gu Gu said: "Life is a sea of ??suffering, and the three realms are like a house on fire." Since time immemorial, all living beings have been confused by ignorance and troubles, and have committed various karma, causing them to wander in the three realms and six paths, suffering and reincarnation. In order to turn sentient beings from confusion into enlightenment, the World-Honored One sails the Merciful Boat to and from Saha, performs Dharma for all sentient beings, and teaches them the way to become a Buddha. Just like the Great Doctor, he is good at mixing various medicines to treat the diseases of ignorance and troubles in all sentient beings, so that they can achieve liberation and freedom. "Peace" means to be at peace in the liberated state of Nirvana, silence and inaction, and to be free from the suffering of reincarnation forever. Therefore, it is said: "All three realms are suffering, and I should be at peace with it." Understanding the preciousness of this thought will help you find the direction in which you should strive to practice. In the past, I did not understand Buddhism and did not realize the value of this thought. I allowed this thought to cling to the external world, let go of my own desires and habits, and created the cause of suffering in reincarnation. Now that we know the value of this thought, we must take it back, raise our awareness at all times, reflect, examine, and be aware, and eliminate all the delusions and worries in our hearts one by one. When the worries and dirt are melted away, the pure nature will naturally come to us. Now, at this moment, you are sitting in your own treasure, sitting in the tranquility and happiness of Nirvana; you are free from worries and free from life and death. Just like the ancient Zen Master Chalingyu said in a poem after he attained enlightenment: "I have a bright pearl, which has been blocked by the dust for a long time. Now the dust is gone and the light is born, shining through thousands of mountains and rivers."
